Can someone verify if this LinkedIN link is real? I'm 99.9% sure this guy is just another hachi-style troll, but if he went out of his way to create a fake LinkedIN profile, then that's pretty impressive.

I'm sick of these Europoor retro gamers gushing about their love and nostalgia for games on platforms like the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, and Amiga. Constantly, bragging about growing up with true hidden gems and how they had it better than American (and Japanese) gamers.
No. The games you grew up with are fucking shit. I'm sorry. There may have been a few hidden gems, but nobody outside of 50 hertz-land is nostalgic for single screen puzzle platformers for computers that can only display single color sprites and make far noises.
There is a good reason why American gamers are into Japanese imports instead of European imports. Japanese games still have a pick-up and play mentality (outside of tactical-RPGs). Retro-European games have an anything goes mentality. That's why they're nostalgic for unique and complex shit like Lemmings and Populous, or it's just some shovelware platformer/adventure game hybrid because "we have no idea what we are doing".
The idea that they think Americans would be envious of them just baffles me.

The only culture war stance that libertarians should have is freedom of association. Don't like trans people? Exclude them from your covenant, don't sell to them, deny them employment. Don't like transphobes? Exclude them from your covenant, don't sell to them, deny them employment.
The paleolibertarians seem to get it, but they assume that every community is going to follow their culture norms. Honestly, I think a radical libertarian society would be much different than what the paleolibertarians, bleeding-heart libertarians, libertarian socialists, or non/anti-libertarians envision. It would probably just end up being a patchwork of different communities, each with their own culture, rules, etc. Those who don't feel like they belong to any community would just homestead in the middle of nowhere and the NAP would in theory prevent inter-locality conflict.
If libertarians would market their ideology like that, I bet their would be a lot more people on board.

I love how for years now that console gamers always bring up how they still get physical games while PC gamers only get digital releases now, which is untrue as indie games occasionally get physical releases on PC. Now, PlayStation is going digital only, PC gamers can actually make that argument, even if it's just indie games. As long as computers have some form of removable storage, physical releases will always be possible even if it's very niche.
Also, the whole physical vs digital debate has always seemed like a false dichotomy to me. People say that you always own your copy if it's physical and you never own it if it's digital, but that is entirely untrue. I own all my MP3 files on my MP3 player and no company can take those away from me. I can back them up on multiple devices. And physical media can have DRM and revocable licenses where you can lose ownership at anytime. The real argument should be whether or not the medium in question has DRM, not whether it is physical or digital.

Even actual gaming hardware like the Dreamcast didn't die from piracy, at least not directly. If publishers knew (or at least acknowledged) that piracy doesn't kill sales, they would've still supported that hardware. The real problem was that if your console can easily run pirated software, then it can also easily run homebrew and publishers wouldn't have to pay licensing fees to publish their games on your system, and licensing fees are how console manufacturers make money as they sell their systems at a loss. Homebrew is the biggest threat to any console manufacturer (not including "open-source consoles like the Ouya or OpenPandora), not piracy.
>90% of people illegally copying the full version doesn't change that if you're outdoing Windows in install frequency.
And I bet most of those people who pirated the retail version of DOOM were either kids whose parents refused to buy that game for them or people living in countries where the game was outright banned.

Hashing seems like a terrible way to detect CP because all one needs to do in order to bypass it is to change one pixel value in a way that it isn't noticeable and then the resulting image would have a completely different hash.

In the wake of the news of Fredrick Brennan's (8chan creator) passing, I was reminded that I too had some dream of creating an imageboard, but I never got around to it and I'm glad I did.
Basically, much like how 8chan was basically a fusion of Reddit and 4chan, my idea was a fusion of Twitter and 4chan, as in instead of boards, threads would be grouped via tags that anyone can create on the fly. The only rules would be to keep everything legal and all spam threads would be deleted. I never got around to it because of my limited knowledge of programming and servers at the time and I felt like my more progressive family members would disown me for creating such a site.
I'm glad I never created that site because I feel like most people who run community sites for niche and dissident audiences tend to regret it later in life and go down dark paths. Though, I'm not against such sites in principle, I just hope that if you create such a community that you are prepared for what you are getting into. At least Hot Wheels seemed to have enjoyed the final years of his life.

You've probably noticed in the previous video that the player would make a "bump" before landing on the platform. I fixed it.

IT'S FINALLY OUT!!!
My first commercial game and my first game under the Ioncom brand. It's an action, roguelite, dungeon-crawler with limited lives and permadeath.
It's currently Linux exclusive, but the source code is available and you should be able to compile it for anything that SFML runs on.

What's more insane is that you can say certain ethnic and homophobic slurs on the radio, but not that word.
FCC really only bans words with a sexual connotation.

Forever. It's one of the seven words you can't say on radio.

In a perfect word, everyone who can use a computer would also know how to write HTML or Markdown and edit documents that way. That ensures minimal compatibility issues.

People who send/publish PDFs with the intent of the receiver to edit them should be labeled as clinically retarded.

Humans can petition for their rights. Animals cannot.
Murray Rothbard made that distinction in The Ethics of Liberty.

Read "The Secret Life of Plants" and you will realize that plants might be self-aware too, so there is no point in trying to not cause harm to other lifeforms besides your own kind, unless you want to die.

And to clarify, "libertarian animal rights" mean that the pet owner can abuse and/or slaughter their own pets because it is their property.

I've noticed that prior to the Charlie Kirk shooting, the whole left/right divide was kind of on the decline (it still existed, but the mainstream left and right were finding common ground on some issues like Epstein, Palantir, and even the war in Gaza), but after the shooting it has went back in full force.
As for Roman Storm, people getting arrested for crypto related projects, even if they don't violate any laws doesn't surprise me.
There was one libertarian activist named Ian Freeman who was arrested for selling bitcoin without a license, even though there is no such license. He followed the law, but the feds were trying to get him arrested for the longest time (he was part of The Free State Project and there is a certain FBI agent that has been dedicated to stalking and cracking down on Free Staters) and they finally found an excuse to arrest him when an elderly couple got scammed and went to his ATM to buy bitcoin.
The worst part is that if he was just selling bitcoin and wasn't expressing libertarian sentiment, he would've probably gotten a lighter sentence or wouldn't have been sent to jail at all. It just shows that you can be punished more if you hold an ideology that the judge doesn't like.

I'm so out of touch with modern games that I don't know the full extent of what you are talking about, but as a hobbyist gamedev, I do agree that balancing difficulty is hard. Unless you pay close attention, it's easy to make your game extremely easy or extremely hard.
Story Difficulty Mode is just a result of games prioritizing story over gameplay and now you have a bunch of casual gamers who enjoy games for their unique story telling and nothing more.
