Hei Fedi,
I'm on the warpath against my corporate landlords about the heating in our apartment not working properly. I have five RuuviTags spread around to measure the temperature. I connected the sensors to the HomeAssistant on my computer, which is _not always on_.
=> Is there a way to get HA to download the historical data from the tags when it gets switched on? (The phone app can do this, so the data exists.)

@nprofile…xkhf The AI bubble will burst, this is not going to last forever. And it's very clear that we need to move away from evil US billionaire platforms for everything. This takes time, but alternatives are already springing up.
Otherwise, since we are also still _accelerating_ towards societal collapse, the future of information (transfer) is expert opinions, books, and some mesh network of semi-offline archives.

I don't want to convince you to go #vegan . However, I do want to convince you to stop eating #beef .
A disproportionate amount of #agriculture 's atrocities against nature, like the destruction of the Amazon, are done so that humans can eat cows.
A unit amount of beef needs much more water, land, and CO2 #emissions than any other food. Cows belch a large amount of methane, which is much more destructive than CO2.
And then there are the effects on your health.
Make the right choice.

@nprofile…cckg That\s how I solved it. DT Swiss has no proper details on its product pages, but their spoke calculator has all the data.
However, I have wasted an insane amount of time now going from various shop pages to do research about the exact specs of every hub. One or two numbers are always missing, data is given in free text, the usability of these datasets is very low.

2026-05-10 09:00:07 UTC

Why is it so fucking hard to find all the data about a bloody bike hub??? Sometimes even the manufacturer fails to list the dimensions, so I don't know how long the spokes should be.
Once I will get pissed off enough and code a bike parts shop with an impeccable data model, where comparison and filtering actually function properly. Fuck the status quo.

I'm Hungarian. Complaining is our national sport. So allow me.
I was born behind the iron curtain. In 1989 it seemed that we were going to be free and it really looked like freedom was forward and repression was backward and the world moved ever forward and eventually all of us would be free.
And now I get to see, from the inside, the West sliding backwards into fascism.
You don't know where you are going, but I do. It's painful to watch you harming yourselves like this.

@nprofile…npxa It wasn't the storage, the stuff was already there and it fit. The CPUs were very weak and the RAM was minimal. E.g. to display the actual timeline, thumbnails are needed. when you scroll the timeline, new ones are needed. Two options: generate them on-line, wait for the CPU, or cache them in memory from the disk, but loading is slow and not too many fit in-memory at once. [cont.]
