Ever thought about how we make this place sound cool to other people?
Spoiler: It's not 'Fedi'-anything.

At a Sheffield for Democracy meeting earlier today, I spoke about how local democracy is failing because of national campaigns.
Local campaigns are lost in national-level noise, especially to young people.
No matter how many meetings local councils hold, they won't break through to young voters. They need to meet voters where they are. Online.
Community is no longer just physical, we need local digital spaces where people can come together and be informed. No, not a Facebook group. Meaningful platforms led by accountable local voices.

Something crazy is happening in the UK.
In the face of Reform (which leads the polls in older generations), young people are turning to the Greens.
If you want to learn more about the Greens, I made a @nprofile…ttr2 Channel! It even includes posts from the party leader, @nprofile…8tj3 (who I think is the only UK party leader on the Social Web!).
I wonder how the other UK parties will respond to this threat... Join the Fediverse?

At @nprofile…du7m we're doing some really exciting things, but one of the problems with doing cool and exciting things is finding the words for them.
In my latest blog post, I discuss how we label a news AND social app...
