CRITICAL security issue found in Electrum wallet, make sure you are running the latest version (4.8.3 released Oct 23,2026)

Lightning wallet offline? No inbound liquidity? No problem. Your customers can still pay with Lightning, and you get the funds on-chain thanks to @npub1xnf…lpr5 submarine swaps.
BareBits is making merchant adoption of BTC EASY.

Make sure you always have available inbound liquidity in your #Electrum wallet with this plugin. Uses submarine swaps over nostr, 100% decentralized, 100% awesome https://github.com/BareBits/electrum_liquidity

We are trying to bring Bitcoin payments to the masses via woocommerce, can you leave us a quick review? All the well-reviewed extensions are either custodial or BTCPay Server (requires a VPS) whereas our plugin is just install and go.

Much of the web runs on PHP. It's crucial that merchants accepting BTC don't store their wallets on public-facing servers. That's why our product has been directing payments to off-server wallets since day one. A web server and money should never be in the same place if it can be avoided.
For most payment patterns, even a merchant running our server on an out-dated version of PHP would be at zero risk of losing any existing funds. #bitcoin #security #php

If you know about BTCPay Server, you should know about BareBits. No VPS required, runs on any shared hosting, open source, fully self-custody. For everyday merchants, $20/month for a VPS is a significant barrier. BareBits eliminates that barrier. #bitcoin #btcpay

If we wanted to purchase online ads to let Bitcoiner's know about our new software, specifically merchants who take Bitcoin, what would be some good venues to try? #asknostr #bitcoin

New release of Electrum Liquidity Manager (v 0.4.0)
https://github.com/BareBits/electrum_liquidity
Use this plugin with your Electrum wallet to make sure you always have sufficient inbound liquidity. The plugin automatically opens channels and initiates submarine swaps to drain them so you have room for incoming funds. These channels are separate from your manually managed ones.
Major changes:
- Massively improved swap reliability by automatically downsizing swaps which fail due to Electrum not being able to find a payment route for them
- Added a liquidity sink option: use your LNURL/lightning address to drain liquidity for free instead of using swaps
- Warn user when they attempt to spend funds if those funds would make it impossible to reach their "liquidity goal".

Are you Bitcoin merchant? Take on-chain and lightning easily with BareBits
https://github.com/BareBits/cashupayserver
BareBits is a software for taking on-chain and lightning payments that runs on any shared web hosting account (no VPS required like BTC Pay Server). Low 1% fee, we only make money when you do!
- 100% full self-custody and private. BareBits devs have no access to your data. 100% open source software.
- Integrates with all e-commerce software: WooCommerce, Magneto, Shopify, etc.
- Supports self-serve invoices (donate/tip page) and merchant-generated with customizable products to pick from for fast invoicing
- Directs funds to an off-server wallet, we suggest Electrum. BareBits can connect to your Strike account via strike API or to your own wallet with NWC, CLINK Noffer, or LNURL/Lightning address. Compatible with CoinOS and Rizful. Alternatively: use a cashu mint so you don't have to manage liquidity.
- Just need local point-of-sale? Try our single click Windows installer!
FAQ:
>> Can this be used as a mobile point-of-sale?
Absolutely! Our entire interface looks beautiful on mobile and you can have seperate non-admin accounts for your employees. They can create invoices but can't access funds.
>> Is there an application process? What kinds of merchants can use this software?
There is no application process, just download and run. As long as your business is legal under US law, you can use BareBits.
>> How do fees work?
Fees are automatically taken out by redirecting incoming payments or pulling funds from your cashu mint (if enabled). If an incoming payment is smaller than the amount of fees due, it is transparently redirected to the BareBits developers. This is shown on the invoices/stats pages in the admin section.
>> What happens if BareBits shuts down?
The software is completely independent of any infrastructure owned by BareBits, you host it yourself. So nothing.
>> I don't want to deal with managing liquidity in a lightning wallet, how can I avoid that?
If you have Electrum, there is a plugin for liquidity management. You can also use a provider (Strike, CoinOS, etc) or use a cashu mint. BareBits will automatically sweep funds from your mint into your on-chain wallet when economical and forward payments via lightning when you have inbound liquidity available.

If merchants (ecommerce or point of sale) want to take payments with their accounts, let them know about BareBits. It can send funds directly to a rizful account via their LN address https://github.com/BareBits/cashupayserver
