Looking at this photo of the senseless destruction of Santa Elena Canyon just broke me. I had an absolutely wonderful trip to Big Bend NP about 10 years ago and this was one of my favorite places. It has such natural beauty and serenity that seeps into your soul and stays there forever. I just called a friend who was with me on that trip and broke down and cried and cried.

Yes class warfare where you have 2 classes, an investor class and a worker class. An argument for not taxing the investor class bc they will invest their money in new and innovative businesses has been a cornerstone of GOP economic and tax policy for decades. It has pushed this country in such a deep hole I doubt there is a way back out for a long time if ever. This predates Trumpism.

My question of the day. Mastodon is a global network so why do so many posts ignore geography when relevant and communicate as if addressing neighbors, fellow town and state residents? Why the parochialism? Is it ignorance or laziness or what? It is truly frustrating for those of us who are curious about locations associated with posts.

I have had extremely sensitive skin for decades. I was fortunate to find a company started by dermatologists that put out quality skin care products under the Vanicream brand. Pharmaceutical Specialties, 800 325-8232. The product I use now is the Daily Facial Moisturizer. It contains hyaluronic acid & Ceramics. No dyes, fragrance, lanolin, parabens, formaldehyde releases. I get it a Walgreens. 3oz tube is under $20. Highly recommend.

Colorado 2026 ballot initiatives. Over 20 ballot initiatives are being sponsored by the radical conservative political nonprofit, Dark Money group, Advance Colorado.
This is what their goals are in our blue state.
1. Inc criminal sentences and expand power of ICE.
2. Block clean energy policy
3. Cut taxes for Colorado's wealthiest residents.

Yes I would say since the national/global trauma of the pandemic. Then technology turbo charged the change. I felt that over my working life there was at least consensus that opportunity to improve one's life should be available for everyone. Of course the actual reality was different but at least there was that common belief. Fragmentation and disintegration of society is what we have now. Yet having contact with people on a one to one basis still often feels normal to me.

In the US here. There's not a day that goes by that I'm not grateful to be retired already and to have enough resources to get by on. I would not survive in today's working world even working for a non profit. It's a shocking change to see the disintegration of society that used to benefit all, not just the moneyed and powerful.

Ewen, thank you for such an excellent video. It's also a useful review for an experienced photographer. What convinced me to check it out is the point "it's not about the camera." It's been 12 yrs since I ditched a fixed lens setup and got a "real" camera. So I'm not a beginner hobby photographer. I have worked on developing my style and discovering my favorite subject matter and have had a rare opportunity to create photos for myself without concern how they would be judged by others.

Denver had a massive turnout, probably close to the1.5 million that signed up. Great energy, creative signs, fun costumes and inflatables. It took over an hour to clear the Capitol area for the march around downtown. Truly amazing to experience. It showed me yet again that We The People, NOT the fascist regime, fu**ing own this country. I fail to understand your position on not using digital watermarks on photographs. I use them because I have created the photographs. Just give me one good reason why you think it's not something photographers and artists should do, unless you're a bot of course and/or want to claim others' work as your own.

Just wondering if she were to be disbarred would she have to resign. Evidently no one in the Maga circus cares about the law so probably not.

Hands Off Protest in Denver, Colorado
Great to be out with thousands of like-minded people. Impossible to get a crowd shot that conveys the impressive size.

Hi! An American here. Please don't even attempt to understand these tariffs via logic of any kind. Think of a mafia extortion racket where the aim is to have world dominance and other countries pay tribute (as in money) to get concessions from the omnipotent ruler of the world. I offer my sincerest apologies that we have a sociopath running our country that few appear to support now. We aren't all lunatics, appearances to the contrary.

I have a 90mm macro Tamron lens I like very much. I shoot flowers with it primarily. I can get super close to the subject. It allows for lots if creativity.

I am in my '80's and I will do what I can to stand up for democracy and the rule of law. I refuse to let the MAGA lunacy, cruelty and lack of humanity get in the way of feeling the joy of being alive. I have the last word on that. F**k 'em.
