Lifelong lover of sci-fi 🚀, concerned about welfare of 🇺🇦, citizen of 🇺🇸, horrified at our current leadership.

“Statistics matter; only stupid people think in anecdotes.”

This thought occurred to me yesterday: No one should ever have to learn about the personal lives of their political heroes, and definitely they shouldn’t ever learn the politics of their personal heroes.

We Americans are unhappy with this “new” map, because it makes our lands look smaller (did I say lands, I meant hands)

It was written as a “philosophical” polemic in the fifties or sixties. I’m pretty sure Ayn Rand just wanted a device that seemed techno-miraculous for the bad lefty government types to attempt to control/prevent. It sounds like the movie pretty accurately reflected the book if that was your impression.

This seems like good news worth sharing. I want people in my country to sit up and take notice. #ClimateChange https://e360.yale.edu/digest/australia-home-batteries

I’m not familiar with MS political scandals, but I have lived in TN for many years, and have become familiar with the Republican mindset. The piggies simply think of themselves as more worthy than any poor person.

Agree, but maybe the stretch is private vehicle purchases versus taxes funding mass transit?

To be clear, they are still making AI PCs, i.e., putting sufficient NPU/GPU capacity in them to get that certification. They’ve just learned that it’s not useful and a little counterproductive to front-load it in their marketing. Personally I never hate on extra compute power in a machine, unless using it turns the PC into a cook surface.

Both things can be true, i.e., (1) the Maduro regime is illegitimate, only in power due to election manipulation and criminalizing opposition to itself, (2) the invasion by the US and the kidnapping of Maduro are premised on (a) lies about drug trafficking, and (b) desire for oil wealth

I faffed around with LXDE, Cinnamon, and Gnome for a long time. I recently installed KDE on my personal machine, and I think I’ve found my “forever desktop”. I always thought it would be too resource-intensive. However, it performs beautifully.
