Cowinka Poníčková

I am actually kinda crazy, which means most of what I write is sort of serious. Sorry.

@nprofile…z8u4 also went with Fastmail, I’m now only missing a good way to send notifications and alerts from self hosted apps, but maintaining that would suck (for now got some free tier lettermint account or something)

@nprofile…z8u4 I also gave up on it after like 15 years just last month, it wasn’t even that hard (no other people there), I was just annoyed at the shit clients, always slow imap, missing things (app specific passwords/tokens, as if I want to give this very sensitive one to every random imap client I’m trying) and the general spam difficulties.

Year is 2026 and you can still buy ok-ish adjacent beer under 10 CZK (40 cents?) somehow.

@nprofile…z8u4 i think it only fetches it when it's referred to something your server saw, maybe if i like such a post, it will fetch it to complete thread because it was referred to in some related activity

at which moment we collectively decided we call it vim motions? i don't remember "motions" being the word used to describe text editor controls before, it must be new, but somehow everyone is acting like that's the word now

@nprofile…z8u4 i'd agree that stacked pr's are kinda stupid bc you are just recreating the concept of not squashing commits, which is something you could just not do in the first place and all the issues you have to create presentable commit history will reappear on some level, so you are saving nothing, just creating another proprietary github workflow, and you could have just done commits, but in case the branch merge is a meaningful unit of work from the project perspective and individual commits are not (that may be very corporate, i don't know), easy click to squash feels sensible

@nprofile…z8u4 yeah ok but what is the good case against some squashing? if you have a ton of CI/CD tied to your gitlab/github and want to frequently share unfinished work among larger team, you either do that, create nice commits manually in a different branch and throw away the old one, or accept a really bad shit history?

There’s nothing that wrong with llm code but it’s sad (and probably rather detrimental in the long term) that instead of improving tooling, languages and concepts, the solution somehow is overseeing a probabilistic monkey just hammering it out.
