Aside from questions on ethics and morals and security and safety (and those are rather a lot of asideness), I don't understand how the same politicians who tout nationalism and flags etc can also happily hand over everything to foreign enterprises. I'm not saying British is best: just that this seems strange.

Which instance would be a good fit for someone in England who grows food in their garden and has an allotment, but works from home 60 hours a week? (Also has solar panels.) They stopped using other social media a couple of years ago, and avoid the news if possible.
I think they'd like the permaculture crowd, and solarpunk, and definitely bloomscrolling. And cats.

A shocking experience some years ago:
At a public meeting with parliamentary candidates, a question was asked about closing the town's arms factory, which made landmines and torture equipment. The Labour candidate was against it. "It's people's jobs!"
I wondered how hungry and cold my children would have to be before I would take such a job. No. Couldn't. I'd find another way.
Strange none of them considered re-tooling the factory. No demand for ploughshares? (Biblical ref)

England's problem with cars and the school run.
An environmentally-conscious family member took her children to school by car, although it was only a 15 minute walk. Why? Because on the route the road narrowed and there was no footpath (council priorities showing!).
One terrifying morning of facing half-awake drivers rushing to work was enough.
There are some patches for the problem which need initiative and co-operation rather than government intervention.

Vet phoned. She has tried all kinds of treatments. He recovers a little, briefly, then collapses again.
I have to decide whether she does what's necessary there, or brings him back this afternoon so I can see him one last time (and bury him in his garden).
I'm tempted to say bring him home, and wait, hoping for a miracle. Selfish...

I have an old Kindle, so old that Amazon unlinked it some time ago. Its battery doesn't hold charge for long, but it's still more comfortable to use than new readers. Can something be done about the battery?
I also have a lot of Kobobooks, and Kindlebooks I failed to rescue from Amazon, that I'd like to read on it (epubs are no problem).
Are there solutions?

I made a Thing. A Foodthing. Don't know what to call it.
8 Windfall peaches from neighbour partially baked in very-low-sugar 2-egg-yolk custard.
Cake dough[0] on top; microwaved 5 minutes.
Ate a bowlful for breakfast with somewhat aged yoghourt.
[0] 2 egg whites + 1 egg, beaten with a little sugar and sunflower oil. Some flour and baking powder folded in[1].
[1] Wish I'd measured the baking powder, was a bit too much.

I was content that #food #labels had to list the ingredients [0], and in order of proportions. I didn't realise how much information was missing.
It's very rare that I buy potato crisps, but last week I did, and glanced at the label while munching. Shock, horror!
Only three ingredients - potato, sunflower oil, salt - but now the proportions are stated.
Potato 66.9%
Shan't be buying crisps again.
[0] Childhood food from USA, plus old enough to remember before food labelling in Europe.

Should I tell my #doctor that I've been experiencing retinal (silent) #migraine since 2005? I get a beautiful display of coloured zigzags around the outer vision, but no headache. It's not very often, and as it goes away after a while I hadn't thought it worth mentioning. I just have to pull off the road if it happens while driving. It's unnerving, but that's all, I think.
