the update is now available! Update to php 8.5.12 and you're fine to switch it on again

it's not about DAVx5 in this case. It's about servers and software that runs PHP (also applies to many CalDAV/CardDAV servers) - they need to update ASAP

yes, I think they will publish it a bit earlier, so it's worth keeping an eye on it a bit earlier

At some point we noticed that new (and not so techy) users don't even know how DAVx5 looks/works *before* they install and start using it 😅
So … we've teamed up with a young and talented 3d artist (link below) and created a 60 sec catchy showcase video for DAVx5 😃
We hope you enjoy it!
(although most likely you already use DAVx5 and probably don't need an intro anymore 😇 ).

Updated manually now and I really like it. It's much cleaner and has useful improvements, too. Very well done 😀 !
I think DAVx5 could also be tagged with "Calendar", "Task", "Contact" and "Cloud Storage & File sync" (since it also offers access to WebDAV files). (bs)

🚨 ALERT 🚨 for all #FOSS projects out there which get donations via PayPal.
In the last 2 days we've gotten several donations (some as "purchase") ranging from 250 → 500 USD. Always same amount as USD (which was suspicious since we rarely get USD).
The trick of the cheaters: They will open a "Paypal Buyers protection" case and if you just send back the money rather than "cancelling" the real transaction, they will get the money twice...
Suggestion: Mark it as fraud and let Paypal resolve it.

Works fine here with Fastmail, see screenshot: "tasks" and "journal" support are shown. If jtx Board is configured as tasks app, it works fine here.

2026-09-27 07:52:43 UTC

- reply

You probably need to create a new calender (you can do it from within DAVx5 via the top right 3dot menu) and there enable only tasks/journals (see image). You should see the task/journal symbols right below the calendar in the collections overview then. these are the keys for being able to use it in jtx and then they also sync back to the server (even if there is no UI for it on the server)

Du kannst jede Kalender-App auf Android nehmen. zB etar oder fossify calendar, falls du open source bevorzugst

2026-09-06 18:19:57 UTC

- reply

if you had push in use already, then no need to change anything.
If you're setting it up freshly then justrefresh the collections list in the davx5 account, in the details view it will then see that the server is rdy for push. a distributer for the push is automatically selected from davx5. if you want to change it you can do so in the DAVx5 settings at the bottom.

Nextcloud folks: Do you need something to do on a hot day (like this - at least in central europe ;-))?
Why not update your dav_push app in the NC app store? @npub1ay3…qya6 has included support for NC34 today, so you'll be able to instant-sync your contacts/calendars and tasks/notes/journals again with the latest version of Nextcloud 💙

DAVx5 4.5.14 is out!
Release notes: https://github.com/bitfireAT/davx5-ose/releases/tag/v4.5.14-ose
Since we had a major icalendar-processing update in 4.5.12 we've released 4.5.13 and 4.5.14 recently that should fix all occurring special edge cases which were not detected through our tests and betas.
So... if you had an issue with tasks or events please update to the new version. Most likely it will be fixed :)

Yes, we've seen that before we started with our specification years ago. But there are no official specs how this is/was implemented in the Apple universe and elsewhere. So it is more or less unusable. We are going the open way :)
Nevertheless if you have official specs for this we'll happily compare them with our WebDAV Push specs and will see if there is room for improvement.

Yes, install the dav_push extension on your NC, refresh/add an account in DAVx5, (optionally select a distributor of choice for Push in DAVx5 settings (bottom)). Then all updates should come almost instantly to your device :)

We've just released DAVx⁵ 4.5.12 🎉 !
This version brings major upgrades to event + tasks processing (big ical4j library update).
When using WebDAV Push for instant sync there is now a nice selection view where you can control your @npub1j3k…7hwz distributor.
For many users DAVx5's sync was a little bit of a blackbox. We now provide more details on how many events/contacts/tasks were synced by DAVx5 and which are stored in the respective content providers.
We hope you enjoy the new version 🤘

Please share and be aware of that – in the worst case – you will NO LONGER be able to side-load apps from individuals/organizations like f-droid if they are not an Google-approved publisher/developer!

This has nothing to do with Nextpush. It can be activated independently to push your contacts calendars and tasks to be received by DAVx5. Just install the davpush app on Nextcloud, then refresh calendars/ address books in DAvx5 and select the UnifiedPush provider you want in the DAVx5 settings at the bottom.

DAVx⁵ 4.5 will ship with full Push support (instant sync) for your Contacts, Events & Tasks!
We've worked on this for almost 3yrs from the first line of writing a draft for a (hopefully new) standard, to the work on a @npub1rk6…hv4q extension until the final DAVx5 implementation.

Do you know any OAuth servers/services out there offering CalDAV and CardDAV?

2025-06-02 12:48:42 UTC

While DAVx⁵ is a client-server sync tool we often get questions if there is a possibility to sync in server to server. We had a nice talk today with the creator @npub1tly…m0qm from pimsync who does work on a tool that does exactly that.
Check out the project here if you're interested:
https://pimsync.whynothugo.nl/
We also added it to our FAQ: https://www.davx5.com/faq/synchronization/how-can-i-synchronize-entries-between-servers

DAVx5 can grant you access to your files via WebDAV. These files can then be used as they were on the device. You can't sync files however like it works with CalDAVand CalrdDAV. You can manually manage files to up and download for example. You'll need a files app that supports SAF (Storage access framework) on your device so that it can see the mounted folder. There is a good overview in our manual.davx5.com :)

Do you explicitly kill apps in general when switching away from it?

If you are using BlueSky besides the Fediverse we've created an account there, too:
https://bsky.app/profile/davx5.com
We'll still use Mastodon to primarily post but I think we will be crossposting to Bluesky in the future :)

DAVx⁵ is more that 11 years old! How long are you using it?

You can connect DAVx5 to your iCloud, too. Pull the data to the Android, then export it on the device, and import it back into the DAVx5 account that is connected with your home server.

Thanks for the info, sounds very promising. We will do further research when we update to UnifiedPush 3.x.

Even better! Do multiple VAPID keys work with "instance" in UnifiedPush.register? Is there a limit of max VAPID keys? Do we need to renew the registration?
Sorry if these things are already covered by the docs. I haven't read everything in detail yet, but trying to get an overview.

That's great news! We plan to implement this in DAVx⁵, too: https://github.com/bitfireAT/davx5-ose/issues/1321
Do I understand correctly that the approach for FCM w/o hosted gateway "only" works if there's only one VAPID key?
In case of multiple WebDAV-Push servers, they'd have different VAPID keys. In this case we could still provide a DAVx⁵ gateway or suggest another distributor, right?
But getting Push over FCM for the big fraction of users who only need Push for one account would absolutely be awesome!

that is not possible yet since the internals of DAVx5 are spread between the system and davx5 and a lot can go wrong when importing data back. we are currently refactoring a lot of stuff and hope to provide better backup possibilities in the (not so far) future!

for example put the manually created davx5:// URL into duckduck.go search field and add qr! behind it. It will display the QR for you which you can save or send somewhere else

Did you know that you can easily (re-)setup DAVx5 via QR code by simply using this type of URL to automatically pre-fill the DAVx5 Login screen:
davx5://user@server.example.com/path/
You will need an appropriate QR code scan app like Binary Eye. Read more here: https://manual.davx5.com/integration.html#implicit-intent
Pro tip: save the QR code somewhere and whenever you want to re-setup simply scan it again ;-). Also great to help other not so tech savvy users by simply giving them a QR code!
