We've been a little quiet lately 👀, but silence just means we've been heads-down building something exciting.
The next Movim release comes with a special surprise 🎁: a fully integrated SFU service, powered by #Galene, that plugs directly into your XMPP server and lets it handle large group calls effortlessly 🌬️.
And of course, it will rely on fully standardized XMPP, as always.
Fun fact: pair the Movim SFU with @npub1mnp…n7wg and your video calls run on a 100% French stack 🇫🇷😁!
European tech doesn't have to play catch-up, it can finally lead! 🇪🇺
Huge thanks to @npub1n8y…l96n for funding this project 🫶

The last few days have been wild! :shibaohshit:
The video conference user interface has been completely rebuilt from the ground up and redesigned.
Share your screen 💻, switch between grid and active speaker modes 🔄, pin one of the streams 📌, on desktop or mobile... all these exciting new features are now merged into Movim!
Check out the short preview below to see what to expect in the upcoming release. 👀
Movim is becoming a serious decentralized, FOSS, and fully standards-compliant alternative to #Discord, Microsoft Teams, or Slack. :shibacool:
And don't forget to support us on #Liberapay or #Patreon: https://movim.eu/#fund ✌️

A new milestone for audio and video calls in Movim!
Movim now detects the current status of sessions and connects you directly to the screen-sharing and video stream when you join 👌
You can also start and stop your camera or screen-sharing whenever you want ✨
Everything is now ready for the next big step: adding all these new features to Spaces and finally introducing 100% XMPP-standard audio rooms!
(There's also the SFU topic to tackle this summer 👀)
Discord, here we come!

Something big is coming for audio and video calls in Movim 😯
You will soon be able to see in real time when your contacts are calling each-others in a group call and join whenever you want... leave, and join again.
Once everything is stabilized the feature will be added to Spaces.
We are this close to have audio (and video) rooms in Spaces 🤏
So, say goodbye to Discord, you'll soon have a fully web-based, Open Source, decentralized and standard calling platform to replace it. ✨

If you wan't to support me in this journey, I'm having a little crowdfunding campaign https://movim.eu/#fund 😽

The past few months have been wild for Movim!
We hit our first fundraising goal of €1,700 (covering the basic costs) 🎉, shipped Movim 0.33 "Halley", and held an XMPP hackathon in the French Alps 🇫🇷 ⛰️.
Up next: Spaces upgrades, audio rooms 🎙️, better video calls & SFU support.
We published a detailed version on the Movim Blog there https://mov.im/community/pubsub.movim.eu/Movim/first-2026-goal-reached-what-s-next-7cgeGX
Don't forget to share the good news and support us if you like the project. We still have a long way to go!

After months of work and hundreds of commits, this is the biggest Movim release ever made!
This release massively scales up Movim's architecture while introducing exciting features such as Spaces, Hats or improved screen-sharing during video-conferences.
Thanks to @npub1n8y…l96n funding a lot of work was also done to improve accessibility. There is still a lot to do but the bases are there 🫶

We are slowly building a fully standardized, scalable and coherent social network, step by step 🏗️
All the interactions between the apps and platforms are strictly defined in XMPP
Stories for example are defined in this simple extension: https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0501.html.
And for the first time two totally different clients are sharing Stories, in real time, without any adaptation in between ✨
..and everything is stored on your XMPP account! 🔒 Checkout the Stories integration in @npub1zj3…sm9p 🤩
#XMPP has never been so alive ♥️

Movim 0.32, codename Wilk is out ✨
This might be one of the biggest release ever made on the project.
We improved the way to follow, publish, upload share and comment content 🗒️but also redesigned the chat layout 🗨️, refactored the end-to-end-encryption code 🔒, improved our bridges integration 🌉, dropping dependencies 🧹 and improving video-conferencing performances 📹

In the upcoming release you will be able to follow any blog on the XMPP network directly by clicking on the [Follow] button without being mutually friends (like it was until now), its a small change but with big impacts 😁!
We wrote a detailed and accessible article that explains the differences between the #XMPP network and the #Fediverse and shows how blogs are handled on the XMPP network a bit more in details 😸

Hey, did you know that Movim allows you to link your #Discord, #Telegram, #WhatsApp and #Matrix accounts to your main XMPP one and chat with all your contacts in one integrated platform? 🤩
We are working hard with @npub15sv…lwsc to ensure a perfect integration with the Slidge gateways project https://slidge.im/ 🥸🤝🥸
Message synchronization, reactions, stickers, GIFs, chatrooms, invitations, file transfer... you can now find all those exciting features fully working across all your linked accounts in Movim ✨.
Now you can move to #XMPP while staying in contact with all your friends. 👌
Try it out on https://mov.im/ or by deploying your own instance 😸!

Did you know that movim was the first XMPP client to support Stories? ✨
From all your devices you can share your everyday moments with your contacts through photos that disappear after 24 hours. 😊
Everything is stored on your own XMPP account and the feature has been standardized as a protocol extension: https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0501.html 🔒
It looks like a few other XMPP clients are looking to integrate it in the future 👀
