O: it's still amazing how my brain thinks you're scandalously underdressed without leg warmers

the eye positioning of the second one does give me some of that bad taxidermy vibes, though don't know if it's because it looks *too* realistic on the uncanny valley and a little more exaggeration could make it look more "realistic"...

just because I'm a nerd and can gush about a thing I find interesting, please ignore if you like
Back in the day, the telephone automatic switching system operated off of clicking sounds. The rotary dial was spring loaded, and such that if you put your finger in the hole of a number, rotated to the stop, and let go, it would make that number of clicks. The human ability to choose the next number was taken as a pause for the other end to stop counting and tally up the clicks to register one number.
This meant lower numbers were easier and quicker to dial, and thus more valuable to business owners. When it came time to add area codes for automatic long distance dialing, New York got 212, one of the easiest numbers to dial.
Back to before automatic dialing, local exchanges technically used two numbers but had nicknames based on letters associated with that number. Sycamore would probably translate to 79. It was mainly there to make operator's jobs less confusing if they didn't have to remember both a 5-digit number and a 2-digit exchange to patch to. It might've been easier for telephone users to remember as well.
When they introduced automated dialing, you just knew to translate two of the letters to numbers, usually either the first two of a single word or the first one of each of two words. That's why the letters have been part of the dial from the beginning. It took a while for people to get out of the word-exchange habit and just start writing the full seven digits directly.
Sorry for the infodump if unwanted, I know it's something you could have easily looked up if you wanted.

I've heard good things about the Ubiquiti brand, but I don't think their enterprise-facing products are the right fit. Their cheapest wifi AP (just the access point, relies on an external router) is $150.

I recently got something preloaded with Windows 11. It wanted my to connect to the internet and sign in with my Microsoft account. I said sure, I'll do that. If by "connect to the internet" you mean boot off this flash drive. And by sign in you mean username "(distro of my choice).iso" and password "erase entire disk".

can anyone help me find a ... webcomic? one-off image?
anthro dog detective, noir panels, narration about a case that's eluded him for years, shots of going through a dark noir office, opening maybe a secret door? to reveal a conspiracy board with photos and newspaper clippings and notes etc connected by string
and in the center "Who's a good boy?"

I'm blanking on the name of and failing to put in the right search terms to find a comic I was reminded of.
It's a couple of quadrupedal dog detectives, or superheroes? or something, outside a bakery, with the baker saying "Someone just stole some bread!" and the dogs going "Don't worry, we'll track down who's responsible!"
And the last panel is the dogs accosting the mayor, saying "Why do you let people go hungry in your city?!"

... do they not have iphones at all in Canada or are they just rarer? Is the "normal" easy to get a phone there similar to the US, where you sign up for a carrier first and enter a 2-3 year overpriced contract and get a "free" phone? Or do you buy a phone outright first and then shop for a carrier?
