A-Z a-z has only ever really been just the beginning. Type design is much more than the alphabet. 😉
Regarding Vietnamese support: it’s difficult to quantify the time aspect. Some required characters are trivial to add (e.g. ẽ). Some uniquely VIT glyphs require more consideration, like the shape of the horn, along with its connection to a stem (ư) versus a round (ơ). Or how to approach the hook tone ( ̉ ). And the handling of tones on the circumflex vowels (e.g., ấầẩẫ), where to place them and whether to adjust form accordingly, etc.
Then there are additional kerning considerations, like đĩ or ơ”.
So it’s definitely an investment in time.
I would suspect most type designers treat VIT develpment as a focused phase unto itself.

Also, I have to say: I’m a little self-conscious launching right in the midst of this discussion about foundry websites! But I’m sticking to the plan. 😅

Well, friends, now I’ve gone and done it. I’ve launched my own foundry and website.
https://kltype.com
Also: announcing the release of Haffner Text, a contemporary oldstyle with heft and substance, originally designed for TIME magazine and now available for retail license.
And introducing Parling — a sort of Benton-meets-Verdana homage to quintessentially American sans-serifs, an industrious gothic with an affable personality.
Boosts appreciated, especially those with reach beyond my tiny orbit!

The nice thing about sixes is how readily the 60° angles create alignments and symmetrical lattice that underscores the Fediverse symbolism.
However, that DejaVu example from the site is waaay too cramped, imo, for a proper asterism. Tighter than most historic examples I’m used to, anyway.
But @npub1m88…s4gu is the real asterism aficionado. (And her logo, coincidentally, is fives. So what do I know. 🤷‍♂️ )

Hmm. I was going to advocate for hexasterisks for an asterism because of the threefold nature of the geometry, but I can see that pentasterisks might create some interesting relationships.
