Quiet Saturday morning scene on the river. The anglers have not arrived at the dock yet.
Pixel 8. Mild HDR applied in-app to put a little more emphasis on the sun-splash on the water surface.

> why do the French say "I beg you" for "you're welcome"?
I hold the door for you. You say "merci", I answer "je vous en prie". It means no thanks are necessary, I was happy to do it and in fact, I am requesting the honor to hold the door for you.

I am but a STEM heathen. My knowledge of literature and poetry is haphazard and unearned. And, completely unrelatedly, I am barely on speaking terms with The Atlantic these days (but let's keep it short). But here: have a link to this Noah Hawley piece about Kurt Vonnegut. It takes guts to write "writerily" about Vonnegut. But Hawley is a sniper: he hits you, unawares, with precision shots. Oh and AI is the new Ice 9. So many different people in the same device. #gravy

Love the whole scene, with all its details, depth, and atmosphere. From the close-up path and heaps of snow to the mountain tops and clouds in the far distance, I can immerse myself in it. And as a weather nerd I appreciate the subtle yet perfectly plausible depiction of cloud remnants in the aftermath of a heavy snowfall.

Hey that looks hand-drawn! Cool, that's not something you see done very often anymore.

I understand the potential hardship. If I may suggest, just don't get too worried yet, the fear and anticipation is part of their tactics.

Excellent advice. About the steady team: continuity is important in management too. It helps when you don't continually have management that is short on context and learning the ropes.

Yeah that's some deepener coming in. 942 millibars lowest central pressure predicted by RDPS model. Bracing.

Love the dispersion modelling sites (sorry you need to use them). The volcanic haze can travel quite far in a diluted but visible state. Back in 2021 an unusually stable westward wind pattern brought some all the way to Newfoundland. (The so-called "Volcanic Ash Division" in the story was my gig at the time.) https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/volcanic-gas-iceland-newfoundland-1.6032264
