If an I/O error occurred during reading of the file, who knows - the file could be valid or not but you wouldn't know as your `read()` bogged out midway.

A case, validate a file. If the validation passes then return a `Result.Ok`, if not then return a `Result.Error`. If, however, somebody just ran a Killdozer over your computer whilst plugged in then you'd probably (wild guess) get some sort of I/O error - which should be an out-of-band error - it's truly exceptional. Returning `Result.Error` would be wrong as it stands for "validation failed".

What are some of your takes on the use of optional and result types versus throwing of exceptions. I'm slowly beginning to think that exceptions should be for exceptional cases; i.e. things that cannot fit into the `true/false` of a result.

Along with that has been a lot of fun with building the `PackageManager` itself which allows multiple package sources (repositories) to be attached and then searched across via a regular expression. When hits are found they are saved and a `Package` can be retrieved and then later `fetch()`'d.
Still a lot more to do but it is getting there.
Slow and steady, wins the race.

Been working on a package manager for my compiler, so far it's been very fun. Even added some nice bells and whistles by doing a chunk-transfer with `std.net.curl` I can fetch a few chunks, append the retrieved bytes and call some call back (in my case one that updates a progress bar).

I can't be the only one who uses `[65, 66, 66, 65]` as testing bytes whenever you need something to stand out when doing low-level protocol work?

Once I feel that I am compliant (not many calls to implement) I will then get a Plan9/9front machine setup in (what I hope to be) my new lab (in the garage, like a true chad).

Currently, for now, I am testing by letting v9fs (the 9p driver in the Linux kernel), generate the traffic that I need to decode. This is useful because once I get the Tattach/Rattach done then I should be able to get to the more common I/O operations.

As part of my introduction to Plan 9 I decided the best way to start in a more comfortable environment would be to implement a 9P protocol decoder (with a state machine), encoder and then a high-level client/server framework.

A little make-pretend coding bug here, something which pattern matching would automatically solve because you would explicitly have the correct components extracted and you can't ever did it incorrectly (because you are not using methods to extract components but letting the compiler generate such calls for you)
This was my voilá moment - either way this code is still in D 😎🙌

They are derived from human nature, private property is a biological instinct.

So this happens before the typecheck/codegen begins, meaning it has no idea that an alias emplacement has occurred.

2024-05-07 18:54:39 UTC

A glass of 🍷️ and an hour later, I implemented alias expressions in my compiler :)
For example:
```
alias expr = 1+1;
int main()
{
int i = expr;
return i;
}
```
And running `./tlang.out; echo $?` you get `2` as expected.
---
The MetaProcessor searches for all VariableExpression(s) (which `expr` would be in `int i = expr;`) and then clones the alias's expression and replaces the AST node with a clone of itself.

Credit where credit is due, this was one of those minor problems that just needed a fresh set of eyes - couldn't have done it without you Gustav Meyer. A small piece of code called in the wrong order caused the entry point module (the one on the command-line) to duplicate its presence in the module tree (used for type checking and code generation later on), I built on top of Gustav's simple-but-effective fix and it's now perfect! 💫️
