A newspaper promising the first images of pedestrianised Oxford Street used a single screenshot from a traffic camera.
Now, why didn't I think of that when I spent two cold hours on Oxford Street last night?

Your latest dose of Britain is Bonkers.
Sir Alastair King has been named the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (a largely ceremonial role as the King's representative).
However, that excludes the City of London, which has its own Lord-Lieutenant, but it's held in commission -- that is, shared by several people. Including, as it happens Sir Alastair King.
Which makes me wonder how often one person has been Lord-Lieutenant in two places at the same time.

Unless you're self-employed and you see those dreaded brown envelopes from the HMRC in the mix, the sight of which has probably sent more people to hospital with heart wobbles than anything else known to mankind.

Random thought.
The thud of post arriving through the door used to be a harbinger of gloom as the initial thought was "great, more bills".
But now bills are online direct debits - so when the postman knocks, it's transformed into a moment of pleasure as most of it is things you want to receive.

Random thought - the final couple of weeks of this year's Great British Bake Off might be interesting.
Will likely have been filmed during the first of this year's heatwaves.
