Maybe?
But, after I moved to the US, it's surprising how much politics here is actually just racism.
Like, it's SHOCKING once you see all the subtle ways.
(Btw, it's not just my theory, it's one plausible explanation for why people would dislike a syncopated rhythm kind of music so much that they define their entire identity around it. MAGA level crazy)
If you try to understand the US, you should consider how some families still carry the fear/hate of black people for generations.

In any big system there's tons of long tail shit, and some juicy "what if" explorations that nobody has quite the time to actually get into.
Set an agent on each of them. When the PR comes in, check it as if it's delivered by an offshore contractor. Maybe it's usable with changes maybe you just kill it but you can now try things you couldn't before!

In the best of worlds, we get to pick which parts we do!
A hobby woodcarver might use a knife where an industrial process would use CNC, and that's OK!
Note that society doesn't pay me to "do the bits I enjoy" though. They pay me for robust, working software, as quickly as possible, and the models can help achieve that, when guided.

Reviewing other people's code and debugging unfamiliar modules is where we grow the most though.
My advice to new programmers is always "read other people's code! Do it regularly, with the goal to understand how it actually works. Step through it in the debugger!"

The data are pretty clear from other countries.
Taxes on income, including capital gains: good when not excessive.
Taxes on realized wealth: damper on innovation unless carefully managed.
Taxes on unrealized gains: absolutely a bad idea.
FWIW. When I grew up in Sweden in the 70s, we had taxes on unrealized gain. It did not work out well for the economy or citizens.
