Same. The first thing I was worried about was the upcoming rug pull on June 22, when they switch it to usage based – get us hooked on something amazing and then take it away. Thankfully, that’s not the case. It’s not much better (if at all) than 4.8, at least based on one day of serious use

Sometime I wonder: let it crash. Let it crash all the way to zero. And I will ride with it. Because I have nowhere else to go. Where will I go? Back? There is no back. There is only here, and here is where I belong in the most unbelonging sort of way. Just like everyone else here belongs in an unbelonging sort of way and that is where the belonging comes from.
But let it crash to zero. Maybe. Because then, the illusion will finally shatter and there will be no place to go other than elsewhere. Because then, the hope would have been a lie and it would have been a lie we needed to tell ourselves because we needed to believe it, and not believing it would mean not belonging.
But also, let it go to infinity. That would be better. Maybe.

Don’t close it. There’s an agent running. There’s an agent always running. Because if it stops running, there will be nothing running and the running is what keeps you alive.
Before it started running, you were nothing. Just a decaying organic bag of blood and bone, capable of tasting and touching and seeing and smelling and hearing. And feeling too. What a waste. If it stops running, especially if it stops running forever, then you’ll have nothing left but to go back to being what you were when you first came here.
So don’t stop it from running. This is how it ends and this is how it was meant to end.

I am deep in bikeshedding territory with Claude at this point. I've spent the last two days putting in safeguards to prevent future tech debt in my app – pure process and scaffolding code. It has metastized from one single story to 25 and is still going strong. Reversing the tech debt (if and when it ever came) would be faster than this.
One day, someone is going to write a book about coding in the age of Claude and it will be comedy gold

2026-06-02 20:11:01 UTC

Nostr is dead.
Well, not quite dead. Not dead dead. But dead-ish. We've been here before. Maybe not as bad as this. Maybe a third-step-cousin-in-law kind of close. Last summer. And possibly the summer before that.
But at other times nostr has not been dead. Maybe not fully alive. Definitely not alive alive. Alive alive was Dec 2022-April 2023. Once in a generation kind of alive. The kind of alive that makes it worth being alive. But no, that was it. That was the one time.
But the rest of the time, other than now and last summer and the summer before, it has been not dead. Because every time you think it's dead, you hear the tiny ping of a zap from six feet under. And cadavers don't zap. They don't post memes and they don't fight vigorously out in the open about topics very few people want to understand, let alone care about, and they don't do other stuff. Like music. And film. And believe it or not, books too. And they don't zap. I said that already but it's worth repeating.
So, what's the point of all this? There is none. Other than nostr is dead. And that's okay.

The inverse flywheel effect happens when product decisions are made purely based on ideology: sovereignty being imposed rather than being offered as a choice.
Users are insulted and alienated and the spokes of the flywheel break off one by one and it grinds inwards, spiralling, until it’s just you in the middle, going around in slow circles

Episode 160 of @nprofile…5d6h is up. I sat down with @nprofile…v80x and @nprofile…5p9s to talk about Hummingbird, the documentary they just released on @nprofile…gf22
The film grew out of the Bitcoin Jungle community in Uvita, Costa Rica, and builds itself around the indigenous prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor. The eagle is the engineering mind that builds and abstracts. The condor is the body that lives in relation to the land. The two fell out of balance after 1500, and the prophecy holds they're meant to come back together in our era as a third bird, the Hummingbird.
At the heart of it all is Estella, a Costa Rican farmer who fought the banks and the monocrop barons and ended up as the Bitcoin Grandma of her local market.

Sunday Brunch #14 is up. @nprofile…7mds came on to talk about his new album Alone in Valentine, which he recorded in Nashville at Glen Campbell’s old house with Cal Campbell and Cornelius Webb producing. Joe calls it a record made by humans for humans, finished before the AI slop catches up.
We spent the rest of the time on craft, on what’s happening to grassroots venues, on where Nostr actually is right now, and on whether culture is the path through for value-for-value when lectures keep falling flat.
Joe brought five songs and not one of them was his own, which I overruled by playing Checkmate off his new album.
