Bitcoin Chatt turned 5 years old today!
Actual photos of its founder, @nprofile…r7j7, today:

Introducing the weekly Bitcoin Chatt Newsletter! 📧
Nearly everyone has heard about Bitcoin, but very few really know what it is, and even fewer can confidently use it as money (for both saving and spending).
Every Monday morning, our newsletter will help to fix that.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HSo6OuqXYAAmBO9.jpg
Over 40 businesses in the Chattanooga area (that we're aware of!) accept bitcoin for payment...
...but almost none of them have received a bitcoin payment.
Many haven't realized that if they want to receive bitcoin, they need to incentivize Bitcoiners to spend it.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HSo4aZLWMAAmhBx.jpg
Many Bitcoiners in the Chattanooga area would love to exit fiat completely and live on their sats, but they don't even know about our map, and that they can spend their sats at over 40 different locations!
Our newsletter (and our map) will change that.
https://www.bitcoinchatt.com/map/
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HSo8bHzWYAE0taI.png
Every subscriber gets the following in their inbox each week:
- Bitcoin news from the past week
- Practical Bitcoin education and tools
- Details on local businesses that accept bitcoin
...and the best part:
- Special discounts at those businesses (when available)
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HSo-aGwXsAAfI4-.jpg
Actually, no, that's not the best part.
Subscribers also get daily, direct access to our founder, @nprofile…r7j7 (a.k.a. "geekigai"), for any needed help with Bitcoin, be it a general question or a specific technical problem.
Think of it like the Geek Squad (the Geekigai Squad? 🤔), but for Bitcoin!
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HSpCH3yXIAAdqxX.jpg
Subscribe here for $21/month (only ~70¢/day), or $210/year (only ~58¢/day): https://rb.gy/o88ir6
Pay with fiat😝 or sats.
You'll be contributing to our growing circular economy, while learning about Bitcoin and connecting with bitcoin-accepting businesses at the same time!
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HSpCu-0W4AAAGSW.jpg
And we have a special reward for those who get their friends to subscribe...
...but you'll have to subscribe to find out what it is. 😉
Our first newsletter drops on Monday morning, and continues every Monday morning after that!

The interactive map of bitcoin-accepting businesses in the Chattanooga area was just updated at BitcoinChatt.com/map.
In only ~1.5 years, we've gone from just 1 business accepting bitcoin to 41! 🤯
In spite of all the recent drama and infighting, Bitcoin adoption marches on!

Shout-out to @nprofile…khq3 for contributing 5k sats to our #HikeForSats project on Geyser!
Those sats will go toward onboarding more merchants to Bitcoin, and toward us starting our first monthly Satoshi Marketplace!

🚨 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 #HikeforSats 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲! 🤩
Starting Monday the 20th, our organizer, @nprofile…mhyv, will begin a 5-day trek along the Appalachian Trail. Along the way, he'll orange pill fellow hikers, and give regular progress updates (if he has reception).
https://npub1fdc5nr47gx8pcz9cppyat9fx0gc9hv48nke7pf78drx7rpqw28ksqgx779.blossom.band/ff8ee0a6a518d86f1d2e2a7ce21389c71b054fb398d92aad5ecc351564f7e087.jpg
While @nprofile…mhyv hikes, you'll have the opportunity to support us by pledging sats for every mile he completes.
His goal is to hike 𝟱𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀, and his stretch goal is to cross the Georgia/North Carolina border — a journey that covers more than 𝟴𝟲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀! 🤯
https://npub1fdc5nr47gx8pcz9cppyat9fx0gc9hv48nke7pf78drx7rpqw28ksqgx779.blossom.band/4cf85805d2e9a8732166960473556efc0c200ecce04f80486b907a0ed5a51fe6.jpg
Every sat you pledge will go toward our mission to onboard the Chattanooga area to the Bitcoin standard.
This includes funding our upcoming Satoshi Marketplaces, which are pop-up events where vendors can sell their merchandise for bitcoin, and visitors can learn all about bitcoin.
https://npub1fdc5nr47gx8pcz9cppyat9fx0gc9hv48nke7pf78drx7rpqw28ksqgx779.blossom.band/f97714ebf510f51d311100c4edb2abd070a65627b5bc482f3ab2c72cacf0797d.jpg
Bitcoin is built on Proof of Work, and this hike will be too. Watch for updates from @nprofile…mhyv (as long as he has reception), and pledge your sats at the link below.
Your support will help us turn the Chattanooga area into a Bitcoin circular economy! 🔄

Bitcoin is decentralized, so there's no central authority at the top, dictating all the rules.
But when an update needs to be made, who gets the final say?
In this video, @nprofile…mhyv explains why those who run nodes have the ultimate authority in Bitcoin.

𝗙𝗨𝗗: 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆, & 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁
𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗙𝗨𝗗: Bitcoin was created or funded by Jeffrey Epstein.
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Bitcoin had been running for over 2 years (2011) when Epstein found it, and it was another 3 years (2014) before he invested in a company called Blockstream, which builds Bitcoin tools, but is not Bitcoin itself.
Avoiding Bitcoin because of Epstein's involvement with Blockstream would be like avoiding the entire internet because of his involvement with a social media app.

4 years ago today, exactly 1 halving cycle, at block height 703083, @npub1693…4j0c started the very first #BitcoinChatt meetup!
His oldest son accompanied him for support, and just 1 other person showed up.
Over the next few months, 1 or 2 people would visit, but they'd always be new.

We survived 1 full halving cycle!🎉 If you're in the area, join us this Saturday for our 4th birthday celebration!

The East Ridge Business Expo was a MASSIVE success! We onboarded a business (thanks, @npub1ex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jq6qvyt9!), and many others are on their way down the bitcoin rabbit hole.
We were so busy explaining Bitcoin, we barely had any time for pictures. But here's one of @npub1693220pmp0a4c04a0p7hkz874vsxkyfrvtk2yk4zjyj3e4c0ugjs3r4j0c and his son:

There was some talk about moving next month's meetup to the 2nd Saturday, 13 May, due to scheduling conflicts for several attendees (in addition to the Miami Conference the following week). Let us know what you think about that in the comments below.
In any case, see you next month! 👋

We had a great time at Bitcoin Chatt today! 7 people were there, and we all talked about a lot of subjects, from ordinals to low time preference (so we all now know the difference between a "1 marshmallow person" and a "2 marshmallow person"). 😆 Some of us exchanged numbers, and plan to meet up again outside of Bitcoin Chatt.
