OK, this one has got me absolutely baffled.
Why? Just why?
What possible use is there for shoes which look like two shoes stacked on top of each other?

1 minute to guzzle the can and do some serious burps
1 minute to destroy a pair of scissors cutting a shim from the can
30 seconds getting the phone angles right to record for TikTok/FB etc.
10 seconds to open the lock
20 seconds for librarian's brain to register what just happened

I read that another way; after borrowing a sword & sorcery book from the local library and being rather annoyed that it was about 50% explicit tongues, fingers, "throbbing manhood plunging" etc. instead of a plot.
I was a bit surprised that this content was in a public library, without any guidance to the content, and it took some careful looking to find a tiny mention of sexually explicit content, on the back cover, in tiny font, in colour which only slightly contrasted to the illustration.
So I initially interpreted "no matter how small" as applying to the physical size and prominence of the warning, not the amount of content.🤪

I thought I'd initially try a low cost, low effort experiment, so I melted some tea-light candles, and added a squirt of powdered graphite from the hardware store. I cleaned the chain in turps, then methylated spirits. Melted the wax in an old saucepan, and swirled the chain around in it for a bit.
I was really happy with how clean the chain stayed, and how I didn't have to clean and lube it after every single ride.
Since then, I've added a magnet to the jars when cleaning the chain, because I accidentally noticed how much metal dust came out of a brand new chain. Also added some microcrystalline wax, on the advice of TraceVelo.
I haven't bought any commercial wax products, no wax melting appliances, no ultrasonic cleaners, no special chain hangers, holders, or lifters, no wax temperature monitoring devices, no "chain breaking" jigs to articulate the chain after waxing,…
I really feel that the basic idea of waxing, which works, is in the process of being turned into some highly commercialised and overcomplicated way of extracting money from people who ride bikes.😡

I have 2 waxed (9 sp) chains that I swap between. I'm just coming up to 10,000 km on the bike computer, but there were some more km before it.
The chain checker is currently not showing any noticeable wear.
Prior to learning about waxing, I was eating through the chains on my old 7-speed, because of the salty water and sandy soil of the lakes I ride around.
Wearing out chains, and cassettes, and wheel bearings, and socks (from the oily chain mess stains) and oil, and rags.
Now with wax, it's just check wheel bearings and decrease if needed.
Waxed chain stays clean and lasts.

Mine is an Ortur LM3, and I was just curious to see what it would do. It will never cut, but these marks are legible and survived a vigorous cleaning.
My initial plan was to use masking tape on the disc, laser cut the tape, weed it, and then have a play with salt water etching.
I missed a corner of the tape, and saw it had etched, so just peeled the tape off, and gave it a clean.
I wasn't even running full power, and might try more experiments using Sharpie or black paint as a mask.

I'll add my clothes dryer to these stories:
my neighbour asked me to help carry his dryer to his trailer to go to the dump, as it had suddenly stopped.
I asked if he wanted me to take a look, but he'd already bought another one. He let me have it though.
The internals were packed with lint, and a thermal fuse had blown.
I vacuumed out the lint, replaced the 17c part, and have used it for the last 40 years.

I've been Really Evil™ - so much so, that for the first time in my 60+ years, I had the Australian Government block my access to a website, and pop-up a warning that it had been blocked! 😱
Do you want to know what vile, putrid, sickening filth I was trying to access???
English subtitles for "Howl's Moving Castle"
Yup, english subtitles to an innocuous, family friendly, well-loved worldwide animation.
I was loaned some #Ghibli DVDs, and after watching the first one, my ancient DVD player died, so I ripped the DVD to a USB drive to try out the cleverness of my new TV. Turns out this DVD was a Japanese version, so that's when I went over to the dark side …
Anyway, I now have Kodi, a file transfer app, and a file manager app installed on my TV, and am watching "Howl's Moving Castle" … WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES 🤯
(If you've read this, or follow me, you can either feel relieved that the mighty #Albo is saving us all from wickedness, or you can expect unmarked dark vans in your driveway)

Don't make the mistake of noting where the huntsman is, and expecting it to be there or nearby when you next pass by.
They have an innate quantum entanglement ability, and can appear several rooms away in the time it takes for you to stop actively focusing on them.
Just diffuse your awareness of your zero-cost, chemical-free, environmentally aware huntsman friend to "I am blessed with many huntsmans in my house", and you are less likely to be surprised at the next location.

If you remove the advertising/financial connotations from the word "influencer", then I have been influenced more by people on Mastodon than any prior social media:
I now often go for bike rides when the weather is not perfectly wonderful, because of a guy who rides every day.
I've found, looked at, and intend to swim in the local ocean baths, because of a lady up the coast who frequently swims and posts pictures which make her ocean baths look pretty wonderful.
I've read several books because of people here waxing lyrical about them.
I've made a chilli dipping sauce, because a lady on here suggested that to me.
So, for me, the influencing on Mastodon is more … "authentic"?
