They certainly do well in pots. Ime, those tend to have earlier ripening, although usually a smaller yield.

got a few flowers maturing on one of the three little sweet peppers

Had some incredibly dry/hot weather for the past few weeks. Wreaked havoc on the cracking, but we do have a few ripe toms.

can we please stop acting like this and two-factor does anything more than slow people down?

Didn't get to use any of the volunteer lettuces before they bolted, but I'll keep some and we'll have plenty of seed for next season.

Looking great, and nice layering. I didn't get any potatoes out w/ the family-med thing going on, but a few sprouted on their own...and were within a month or two razed to the ground by those damn potato beetles. may still try to salvage some of the seed-potatoes I've got in the basement and grow a little something just to keep the stock going.

have grown a purple bean, romano purpuriat, that you could almost do decoratively. Leaves were a nice rich green but the stem too was that dark purple/red.

eh, I've planted bush beans quite close together and had good results, plus you've got some spaces where they can kind of lean and find light if/as others crowd a bit

idk although I think it's the citrus in the tea just b/c I tried this back when I first got it, and it's sort of like spicy oregano. not very appealing tbh

Yeah it's amazing how late things are ripening this year, but better late than never I guess.

Sugarbaby watermelon plants staying extremely compact, but really not producing fruit any more densely than the much more expansive Mickylees. Overall, Mickylee way ahead at maybe 5 fruit, w/ 3 nearing ripeness off 2 plants, and afaict only 2 fruit w/ 1 well-on for the Sugarbaby. Maybe still worth growing if you just start more plants depending on what we see in flavor.

Even the slicers/heirlooms are starting to wind their way up their 2nd stage trellacing. Krim, Stripey plants, and Brandywine-fruit here, followed by a view of how I'm sending the Mickylee watermelon foliage along the row beneath them to maximize the space. Will definitely do that again.

alright guys, you won. i thought vegetables were a healthy form of sustenance but they seem full of cyanide-related compounds and even deadlier fructose, so i'll leg you having fun without me. i'm going to pave over my garden.
looks like permaculture is even worse than battery farming.

I thought they required a phone# at some point, but hey nice. I'll check back sometime. Still probably won't be able to do a channel until the family situation here changes, but I'd love to take on some more involved projects like that when I have the chance.

I'd like to. For one, I'm banned from youtube (at least commenting, and idk if it applies to uploading, but it would be weird not to be able to respond to people), and I have family stuff on top of work that make consistent projects like a channel implausible. I'll try some things w/ them and see where we go tho. Tbh I think it's just the first-gen thing in this case, but the genetics should be there in the underground tubers as well if it's more unique than that.

I think for corn this is the earliest year I've had, but I took a bit of a risk putting it in the ground when I did and just got lucky. Think I'd normally be in line w/ you.

sorry - Idk if I shared w/ you already but Hoss tool had a video on how they do a fert schedule that I've found pretty useful. Most crucial thing I'd say is that unless you have insanely fertile soil, expect to use some npk, like a 12-12-12 or something, and at a fairly high intensity.

Pulling weeds by hand and met this little guy - the Io moth's caterpillar. Those bristles sting. In the vicinity, although not as bad as a beesting. Then again I had some numbing spray. Tried to just throw it out into the field b/c whatever it was eating inevitably got pulled up, but idk if it could find something else in the grasses.

Not sure if you're just going for slips in this arrangement, but they won't produce new potatoes until the slips are separated from the root/potato that produced them.

Unless you're somewhere that doesn't frost until close to December, it'll be difficult to produce full sized taters if your slip-producing taters aren't doing that yet.
I have a bunch of extras if you have like a p.o box you feel is sufficiently anonymizing.
That aside, are they in water? If so, I always tell people - dirt works way better ime. I also put them on heating mats to get going a little earlier. poa.st/@collatz/posts/AWwt2XnAqSyag42twe

Valerian seedlings.
Early this season, I posted a bunch of herbs & flowers I'd started. They've had some issues, with a few restarted, and extremely little progress, but I think many are at least nearly ready to go out.
