Is threads fully part of the fediverse or are they still walled off and things like replies and boosts don't work? There's a few threads accounts I follow here that never seem to have any interaction.
Is @nprofile…llju better? They have a lot of media sources including some that are also on threads and they look like an actual mastodon server as opposed to whatever threads is and I'm guessing they're not owned by Meta. But the accounts there have far fewer followers.

I learned in high school history that the civil war was about states rights, not slavery. I wasn't a history buff but I also wasn't completely ignorant, so that didn't sit right me because it goes against common sense; still, I learned it.
Some years later I read on my own the Articles of Secession and I was stunned at how blatant the embrace of slavery and white supremacy was written into the foundation of the Confederacy. I was also puzzled at where my high school learnings came from, because it didn't seem to be history.
Then some more years later I learned about the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the century-long effort to promote the "Lost Cause" mythology, and things suddenly fell into place.
Tl;Dr: In a New York City high school, I learned white supremacist Confederate propaganda.

Do the community and library resources have the resources to help people convert their windows 10 computers to Linux, and to evangelize that it is a realistic option to begin with? There's lots of info online, but if people don't even know there's a choice they may never find out about it.

This trend precedes MAGA of course. I remember a "Colbert Report" (so from like 2006 or so) bit explaining that "talking about Jesus is small government [i.e, good]; actually doing what Jesus said is big government."

It's so strange hearing about the heat warnings elsewhere in California, when here its 55 degrees and I'm wearing a fleece jacket. #sfba #coastside #weather

@npub14uk…2erc when they say "tough on crime" what they mean is "tough on criminals." And by "criminals" they don't mean "people who break the law" they mean "black and poor people."
