If You want to stick with Windows 10 that seems less broken then Windows 11 - there is Windows 10 LTSC IoT edition that will get security updates up to 2029.
The bad thing is that it will really download and install these updates and will require reboot :)

From 13 MB to 114 KB.
Greatest thing about ZSTD?
Decompression speed is similar no matter which level You used to compress.

I even have ip(8) aliases on my FreeBSD systems because its less typing ... but it does not mean that it is the right path ...

The https://vermaden.wordpress.com/ is my [3rd] attempt at creating a blog ... my [1st] and [2nd] failed because I focused too much on the 'format' and not on the content.
Also - with SSG I would have to find something for comments ... and WordPress handles this pretty good.
Another thing is making sure that it will be up and running without me - so it have to be free forever option - like the WordPress plan I use - no paid domain - no paid plan - just free forever stuff.

I bet Discord itself does several orders of magnitude worse things with Your data then it tries to scare You with X11 bullshit.
... and X11 is better then ever with XLibre X11 sever - I use it daily since they forked from crippled and broken by some Red Hat employees Xorg X11.

Yep, its not yet perfect.
You can also use 15.x in NON-PKGBASE mode - with distribution sets and freebsd-update(8) the same as with 14.x.
The 16.x is the first FreeBSD that will ONLY allow PKGBASE way of things.

Yes its strange ... I upgraded the other 15.0 system just fine - no issues at all - and another one ... yeah.

2026-07-28 22:47:53 UTC

If You upgrade PKGBASE FreeBSD from 15.0 to 15.1-RELEASE version make sure You have these packages installed after 'pkg upgrade' command:
- FreeBSD-pam
- FreeBSD-pam-dev
- FreeBSD-pam-lib
- FreeBSD-zstd-lib
Because w/o them - You will not be able to login(1) or use pkg(8) at all.

There are several explanations to this.
FreeBSD is not like Linux - things that were posted long time ago are still valid on FreeBSD.
Often when I add older stuff I try to remember to add [YEAR] at the end of title to suggest that its not from yesterday but still valuable - I do not remember and know all of the Internet - sometimes I see some blogs or article YEARS after they were posted - its just I was not able to find them.
... and in the end I am just a human - I make errors and mistakes - thank You for reminding me of my human nature.
Regards,
vermaden

If it was really needed - I would just add another 1U POWER CPU server for that HMC ... but I do not know why they did that ... but because of that HMC other limitations come that even more oldschool HP-UX does not have.

HP-UX is officially dead (no more support) - same as its Itanium CPUs.
Solaris is on a drip infusion - maintenance mode ... then Oracle can kill it any day.
IBM introduced POWER 11 CPUs about a year ago:

Yes You can still buy them ... but besides some banks or really old (not ported software) I really do not see a point these days ...

Pawel likes jokes - he used "Am I Evil? Yes, I Am!" on his signature [1] for some time - I believe he just likes to mess with us :)
Maybe its about Eli from [2] the Bible?
... or maybe one of his friends/relatives had Eli name ...
But to be honest - as GELI is designed to keep secrets ... its funny that its name is also a secret :]

I also see it that way (and seen it like that back then).
AIX and HP-UX are really oldschool and old UNIX systems ... with all PITA that comes with it - manual package management, patches and fixes that often break each other ... and latest version of the patch does not always work and breaks the stuff - compatibility lists ... yeah you name it.
Solaris on the other hand - specially after OpenSolaris started to gain traction - with new pkg(8) tool by Ian Murdock (yes the one from Debian) ... and ZFS and ZFS Boot Environments and Comstar and Crossbow and Solaris Kernel Zones (with live migration) - yes - Solaris was kinda fresh - very limited amount of software in the Solaris pkg(8) repos - so if anyone wanted to do something there - then PKGSRC was needed. Later SmartOS even maintained the binary PKGSRC repo for Solaris systems ... not sure if its still the case.

There were also some good parts like adding/removing CPUs in live running LPAR ... or adding memory to it.
I also miss that FreeBSD does not have any real free HA cluster software like IBM PowerHA or HP ServiceGuard.
There is RSF-1 ... but its not free.

Start with official "FreeBSD Handbook" at https://freebsd.org/handbook ... and all relevant FreeBSD books I gathered here:
https://vermaden.wordpress.com/2022/02/04/books-about-freebsd/
The first book I would get would be "Absolute FreeBSD - 3rd Edition" (2019).
Also check the free (or donate as much as You want) the "FreeBSD Jails Using VNETs" (2020).
... but to be honest many things are missing any of those books - like Poudriere or PKGBASE stuff - for that you can find needed information on my https://vermaden.wordpress.com blog.
Hope that helps.

I try do the same with videos ... it does not have a 'skim-watch' term attached ... but You see that it has drawbacks like missing the fact that it was from Proxmox :)

I saw on the presentation that You used 'zfs send|zfs recv' of VM snapshot.
You can use 'vm-bhyve' to do the same more 'automated' way ... its not documented the best way - but works really well.
Here is an example from one of my systems:
# vm migrate poudriere 10.0.0.3
(root@10.0.0.3) Password for root@f25.local:
Attempting to send poudriere to 10.0.0.3
* remote dataset zroot/vm/poudriere
* stage 1: taking snapshot 20260112001042-s1
* stage 1: sending zroot/vm/poudriere@20260112001042-s1
(root@10.0.0.3) Password for root@f25.local:
* stage 1: snapshot sent
* stage 2: guest powered off
* removing snapshots
* done
This is how it looks like it You do NOT configure SSH keys to have it passwordless.
Hope that helps.

vermaden
