Sounds like the SES in Australia. Is this just a locality by locality thing or are there state level resources and training available to the volunteers?

Maybe just a lighter weight thread then rather than a reduced ply count?

It might not be waxed but fixing that is only tedious. There is at least one other supplier as well but I've never dealt with them.
NB What I've done is not complex ... just beginner level pamphlet stuff. I didn't care what the ply count was, only that I had some thread.

A few weeks ago a #FountainPen person from #NewZealand was looking for fountain pen shops. Today I bumped into one in Auckland that did not show up in my web searches. It has at least Nahvalur, Pilot, Platinum, TWSBI, Cross, Kaweco, Ferris Wheel Press, Lamy, and probably others I have forgotten.
In shop prices seem about normal by Australian standards ( allowing for currency conversion ).
This is their web site: https://shop2.fitzgeraldtaylor.co.nz/

To create exam questions that require the sitter to demonstrate understanding, The current ones obviously don't. Any exam question that allows someone with no actual knowledge to pass is obviously flawed.

Watching the Giro Italia on SBS, there were two alternating speech to text sources and one of them got race terms, team names, and rider names correct and in the next sentence there would be pseudo phonetic mash which you had to sound out to work out what the text actually referred to.

The degree of effect will also depend on the quality of the tipping. Tipping is supposed to be a harder material to protect the nib but some low end manufacturers use cheaper materials.
And, yeah, I won't use it either for my pens.

The Schmidt nibs seem to have a stranglehold on the wood turners pen kit market. I don't like them because I think they are really mediocre nibs but some of my friends do so YMMV.
Warning .. I have not disassembled a Schmidt nib but I have disassembled similar arrangements to swap nibs for a different width.
The feed does not seem terribly misaligned, once you have emptied the pen you should be ale to carefully pull out the nib and feed, clean them up and re-insert them into the section with better alignment.
When you are cleaning them pay attention that there is no debris or manufacturing defects in the grooves that run lengthwise on the nib side of the feed.
It is also possible that the Schmidt nibs are a standard size (probably #5 or #6) and can be replaced by a similar nib from Jowo or Bock.

They used to be highly prized for light things like clothes and bedding. Possibly because of the moisture resistant lining.
But yeah, heavy things ...

I just remember actual tea chests. They were a standard size (for packing in ships). somewhere around 2 feet square and maybe 3 feet high. Made of thin wood with thin metal reinforcing on the edges and corners and lined with tinfoil. The wood was a kind of plywood but very prone to delaminating if it got damp.

I did a search on youtube and found a small handful of videos .. 2 used plaTINum, one was silent, one used both, and one used plaTIGnum but said he had no idea how to pronounce it.
I would probably go with SBRE Brown because he has probably dealt with the actual company and he used platTINum.
Personally I will probably stick with plaTIGnum to differentiate it from Platinum pens.

I've always use plaTIGnum but I cant have ever heard anyone else say it more that once or twice in my lifetime. And that pronunciation was formed before I ever discovered Platinum as a brand. I had always assumed that they had differentiated themselves from platinum the metal deliberately.

I also use celery leaves to make salted herbs. Chop up finely with whatever other herbs you have weigh and add 1/4 that weight in cooking salt. stick in a clean plastic or glass jar and store in the fridge. Substitute a teaspoonful for 1/2 a teaspoonful of salt in soups, stews etc.
Keeps practically forever.
Also Celery relish is very nice.

Interesting ... Is the notebook by Lami or Lamy?
All the reviews I have seen have been positive but the Lamy notebook does not have any edge indexing.
I wonder if you have been the victim of copycat marketing imitating a well known brand with an inferior product?

I tried to find any link between Haas and the three founders of the CIFF, Micheal Kutza, King Vidor, and Colleen Moore. but drew a blank. Kutza might have grown up watching Haas films (he as 22 in 1962) and Vidor certainly would have moved in the same circles in Hollywood but then don't seem to have ever worked together. Moore was finished acting long before Haas came to the USA. So, nothing obvious.

Given how far in advance this was trumpeted you would have thought that they would have had a change prepared and ready to go as soon as the official announcement dropped.
What is the bet that Google Maps has no change management in place and programmers (or data specialists) are just hacking away at the live database?

Powerline Ethernet is generally held to be a bad idea because it has poor noise rejection and creates large amounts of radio frequency interference so not many companies support it.

Apart from their own cartridge Jowo also make specially threaded cartridges of manufacturers such as TWSBI. However, the #6 nibs can be extracted and interchanged between cartridges or other compatible pens such as Jinhaos.
I have done this with TWSBI pens in the past.

One of the probable reasons that universal healthcare is so vilified in the USA is that once you are no longer dependent on your employer for access to reasonable health care then it is a lot easier to leave a shitty job without putting your family at risk.

Thinking of when I worked for a Newspaper ... there are two thing that bug me (actually there are many things but 2 will do for now).
Back in the day we had a line printer in the operators room that logged all the wire feed stories coming in from Reuters. Editorial had their own printer but they could be relied on to stuff it up so ours was a reliable backup. The stories were short just a paragraph or two at most an were just factual reporting - no reporter "value" add. But I could see more news go by every shift than Google news gives me in a week. I miss those feeds.
The other thing was that I was eventually the maintainer for the electronic library and that had a story query mechanism that worked. I was so disappointed that web searches have never gained a fraction of the capability of a proper text query system. For a time google had a "search within your previous query" mechanism but that would get confused and never worked reliably so they quietly dropped it. A proper web text query engine would be so powerful

Eh, it's okay. You'll get a much better picture in low light conditions than by push processing a film. And it it is really really cheap (per shot) so it should appeal to the masses. But that dependence on batteries and rechargers? Can it ever replace your Hasselblad?

There is a story that the Naturalist Harry Butler used to tell. At one point during the 60's he was doing a job in the South West of Western Australia and he was bitten by one of the local venomous snakes so he applied first aid and presented himself to the local hospital to get the antivenene. As there are several antivenenes for different species he carefully described and identified the snake to the doctor so the correct antivenene could be selected. The doctor hurried off and came back some minutes later without the antivenene.
"I'm sorry there is a problem. We have to confirm the snake identification with an expert in Perth and they are not answering the phone."
"Who's the expert? I may know an alternative contact."
"A Dr. Butler."
