The day started with a major Google Cloud outage in Europe, proceeded swiftly to the eMudhra root cert dumpsterfuck, and now the critical PHP vulns are starting to hit.
Cool, cool. :blobcatcoffee:

I am shocked. Nobody could have seen it coming. Nobody, I tell you! :blobcatcoffee:

> As one New York financier told Financial Times journalist Gillian Tett, new hires who were seen as “AI natives” are turning out to have alarmingly shallow ideas. So much so, the anonymous finance worker admitted, that his firm now actively avoids seeking out AI-literate STEM graduates, and opts to comb through humanities students instead.
Oh, the humanities!

Mozilla also used to run a fedi instance, they killed it about 2 years ago:

Way to go leading the open web. 🤡

The push for this is about labor, and is about power. CEOs all around the world have wet dreams of never having to pay people ever again. Of never having to hire people.
Slaves would be good though.
And AI "agents" is the closest CEOs can get to slaves. The next closest thing are employees that are too terrified of getting fired to stand up for themselves.
No surprise, then, that in this same blogpost, in the same breath, GitLab's CEO announced layoffs.

There is a fresh thing going around about LinkedIn scanning extensions installed in Chrome/Chromium:
https://browsergate.eu/
The website claims "LinkedIn is Illegally Searching Your Computer", and implies the purpose is to find "religious beliefs, political opinions, disabilities".
tl;dr:
- yes, LinkedIn is scanning through a list of 6k+ extensions on Chrome;
- yes, this is bad;
- but the website is disingenuous in making unnecessarily overblown claims.
