Great - Now Der Spiegel, a popular German news website not only shoves a (deceptively designed) cookie banner into my face, it also asks me, in a separate prompt, if it can use Utiq.
Utiq, if you haven’t heard, works together with many ISPs in Europe to link your internet connection to a persistent identifier. This means no amount of cookie clearing, private browsing or even switching devices will get rid of this tracker.

TIL that there are DNS HTTPS records you can use to signal that your webserver supports HTTP/3 (and ECH).
If the browser sees a HTTPS record indicating HTTP/3 support it can use that on the first connection, speeding up the load.
@npub15mh…h268 built a great website for it where you can also test if that record is set for your site: https://savearoundtrip.com

You can now pet the cat! https://emz.im
(don't pet it too much).
I might add a global pet counter.

Trying out Immich as an iCloud Photos alternative. Surprisingly polished and easy to deploy!
Well… I’ll report back once my phone app has realized that the 36k photos it wants to upload are already on the server …

Hmm.. no image preview on Mastodon... either I'm missing tags or Mastodon doesn't like AVIF.
Anyway, here is how the url preview looks on Discord.

Spend half of the day figuring out how to do social media image previews for my website's photo gallery.
Turns out it's a bit tricky to do when your photo library is all JS, but the servers fetching the preview metadata don't run any of that!
I've ended up with generating one html file per image as part of my Vite build step and inserting the "og" meta tags there. Is that a bit wasteful? Maybe. But it saves me from doing any server side logic.

UPS last name field after I put in my last name:

Do they know that 'ü' is a German character?
