Another vote for Foundation Passport. Little expensive in comparison but the ux is excellent.
I’ve used start9 and umbrel for my nodes and both have merit. However if you want something very simple and newcomer friendly to just be your personal bitcoin backend I prefer my umbrel home

Alright Fold App, I’ve got a bone to pick.
Why can we still not withdraw variable amounts using lighting? It’s been 4 years. I still have to hit a 50,000 sat threshold? When we’re over here zapping single sats to each other?
You enabled lightning deposits years back, so this feels intentional. I’ve been put in a position where I have 30,000 sats I’m not going to leave behind but want to close my account. So my choices are to spend more money or spend another year spinning your wheel of fortune for 5 sats at a time.
It’s almost 2025. The US is on the verge of major adoption changes. Time for Bitcoin companies to get their act together, or you’re NGMI.

Graphene is best around. But nobody is invincible.

Security is about removing as many vulnerabilities as possible. So just because you can’t find a person testifying about their hacked device doesn’t mean it isn’t something to be avoided. Especially when it costs far less to buy a hww than a smartphone anyways.
BTC security needs to be easy and clear cut. What you’re advocating for is not. Many of us will never see it as a good idea for people to treat a smartphone as cold storage. But it’s your money.
I’m a little lost with what is your argument at this point. That you’re right and everyone else is wrong?
HWW security is better than smartphones. Smartphones aren’t cold storage by definition. Not sure how I can make it any clearer for you.

It was just one example. If your device has a wireless antenna, even if you’re not using it, even if your screen tells you it’s off, I am still capable of hacking you.

Nope. Many breaches happen without user error.
There’s a whole lot you aren’t considering. Remote data extraction exists. Code injection without user interaction exists. Zero click exploits exist. Supply chain attacks exist. Not magic, computer science.
If you sign a transaction on an internet connected device, you expose the keys every time.
If you store your keys on metal plates, you cant sign transactions.
Stop trying to push away the tools, we built them for a reason.

Hey! Sorry I missed your response, thanks for walking me through. I’m not surprised others have had this idea, just feels like combining the coordinator into the network would solve a lot of problems.
My mind is imagining something like this,
A new module operates in tandem with the mempool searching for transactions that users have flagged to optionally include in a CJ.
Every ~10mins to align with new blocks the “CJ bot” groups tx’s and post the CJ using a combination of RBF and schnorr sig’s.
This could be mostly jibberish, I know enough to cause trouble 😂
But I like sharing ideas

Sure no disagreement here, I’m happy these options exist. However we are not the common denominator with tech knowledge. I have extensive experience with the public, you’d be shocked how many can’t tell you what phone they’re holding let alone understanding operating systems.
iOS is the best way to get easy default security into as many hands as possible. These charts from Cellebrite help illustrate my meaning

What app? I’m not sure this makes any sense. If my device is encrypted at rest, and my data is encrypted in iCloud, it’s no different than collecting metadata from any source. I’ve yet to see anyone demonstrate this with iOS. If they could it would be international news like when pegasus spyware came around.
Plenty of audits for the lockdown mode and iCloud advanced protections that show it can stand up to state actors.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the work put into Graphene as much as anybody. Graphene is best yes, we all know. But out of stock Android, or stock iOS, Apple’s built far superior protections.

Such a rough day. I remember they were working on a decentralized coordinator, could we finish it to revive whirlpool or is it effectively dead?
