Nectar (Sainsbury's clubcard) have sent out an email this morning telling people that from, uh, yesterday you can only scan the QR code at the checkout from the Nectar app itself, rather than the barcode on the back of the plastic card (which I'd imported into Google Wallet). The link to down load their app (which redirects via their website) has basically ddosed that page lol

@nprofile…32kp I agree that that was a particular edge case but it gives me the concern that I could be uploading something entirely innocent and still get accidentally flagged, with the site giving no way to appeal it, since the nature of these systems means that *everything* has to go through it. I'm afraid I don't have any papers to link to on false positives or other inaccuracies though.

@nprofile…32kp @nprofile…x759 @nprofile…u5ey Yeah, this one struck me at the item that is going to kill sites both from an administration point of view and a user trust point of view. We've all heard about the time Google banned a father for taking a photo of his child for a doctor to look at, and if the quality of the cheaper ID verification services is anything to go on (trivially easy to fool and often wrong) then as a user I'd be very wary of uploading *anything* to a site that might get me falsely flagged.

LB: Just as feared, Labour are identical in policy to the Tories on trans healthcare. This will kill trans kids, I'm so angry.

Oh heh I also dreamt that there was discourse around the new style of clothing called "sitting fashion", so I went with a friend to see what clothes shops were stocking. "sitting fashion" was basically top+skirt stitched together and cut into a style that meant you could slip it on over the top of what you'd been wearing while more active, after you'd cooled down, and the shape was designed to look best when seated. I didn't see the appeal 😁 #DreamLog
