I am short and old and think I am funny but the majority opinion is "meh, not that much."

One of the things I find annoying (hey, I'm almost 70, I could go on and on about the things that annoy me) is that this stupid fantabulist LLM junk is giving AI a bad name. Personally, I love the spam filter that comes with Proton Mail. Radiologists can do great things with the tool built with old school machine learning and knowledge engineering. The problem with LLMs is that they patch together some really nice AI work like natural language recognition, with a gigantic Google search engine. The tech bros are selling this "If we just scrape enough stuff, intelligence will 'emerge'". When you use that to write or draw, you are just copy and pasting from the Internet.
Maybe Trump is almost right by accident. It should be "SI" for "Stupid Intelligence".

I think it fair to say that many people in Congress participate in what most people would call "bribery" and get away with it.

I think the real problem here is the archaic reasoning that scanning a document from hard copy is different from just getting it online. The former is "fair use" and the latter is piracy. Any method of accessing books by non-humans should be considered the same thing under the law.

1) This is a good idea but...
2) It will never be implemented because platforms make all there money through various uses of that data they collect about users.
3) It would not protect kids against behavior of other users, some adults and some kids, on the platfroms.

This thread sounds an a lot like "GrapheneOS battery life is very much the same as stock Pixel OS". Could you explain what I am missing here?

The best solution to this problem is to use a search engine that does not provide an AI summary. Try Duck Duck Go.

So it's like replacing the Wikipedia lookup (and local dictionary) that you get in a Kindle with AI?

The article doesn't explain why one would want to use AI inside of an E-Book Manager.

It's as if they don't realize that 75% of the country is looking forward to when Trump dies. This group includes ever GOP member of Congress running for re-election.

People can be quite weird and creepy. It might work better for you if you just blocked them and didn't mention it. Otherwise, you are encouraging other weird/creepy people.
