Some great POW happened as part of the Bitcoin Weekend in Wellington including:
⚡ Bitcoin workshops: From zero to self-custody in a few hours!
🎤 Bitkiwi1 XVII: Great presentations by the @bitcoinpolicynz , Paul, Dan and ACT MP Nicole McKee, the only party in NZ proposing a tax exemption to small purchases with Bitcoin (which would be massive for merchants adoption) and for Bitcoin held for 12 months or more…. Gradually then Suddenly!
A very fun Bitcoin quiz by Stacked with awesome prizes and a great selection of books and hardware by The Bitcoin Shop.
LFG NZ!

Self-Custody Workshop: For anyone ready to take full control of their Bitcoin. HW included and provided.
Thanks to all our supporters who make these very affordable workshops possible, special shoutout to Stacked , NZ’s undeniably best Bitcoin-only exchange!

Having 0 exposure to Bitcoin means being ALL IN Fiat.
That sounds pretty risky to me.

If you are in Auckland make sure to visit Node.
A great space to connect and build, you can really see the POW and dedication that have gone into shaping it.
Thank you very much Jason for showing us around, we would love to come back and host one of our workshops at Node in the future!

Great things happen when Bitcoiners join forces!
Over 30 people learned completely FREE what Bitcoin is truly about, and 2 have already become users of the Bitcoin network, now holding their own private keys after attending our very affordable Self Custody workshops.
This was only possible through the collaboration between Stacked, the best Bitcoin-only exchange in NZ, run by proper maxis; Radical Investments, pioneers in the industry enabling Bitcoin exposure in kiwis retirement plans (KiwiSaver); and ourselves, Bitcoin Journey.
Hopefully, the first collaboration of many, helping deliver free, and sustainable, Bitcoin education across Aotearoa.
Big thanks to Criterion Law Firm and the @nprofile…3sdy , whose support allows us to run workshops just like these ones, free and open to everyone in Queenstown twice a month.
Onwards!

Things just got a lot sweeter in @npub1uht…fp46
Please give a warm welcome to our new merchant: Buzzstop.
At Buzzstop, you can:
🍯 Taste 40+ different flavoured honeys
🐝 See the honey-making process from live beehives to the final jar
🏷️ Learn how honey is produced, and even label your own honey
🌿 Discover why the Mānuka honey in New Zealand is so special, with its antibacterial properties and long history of use for its healing qualities.
And if all that wasn’t enough reason to drop by…you can now pay for your honey in #Bitcoin!
If you’re in Queenstown, make sure you drop by and say hi to Nick and the Buzzstop team, not only they are lovely, but they’re also a 5th-generation beekeeping family, so they definitely know what they’re doing!
We’re honoured to have Buzzstop as part of the Bitcoin Basin.
Stack Sats & Spend Local.

How to orange pill ANY small business/startup (restaurants, food trucks, etc) in few simple steps.
Only requirement: a small group of passionate Bitcoiners.
Us: “Hi, we are looking for a venue to host our monthly meetup and group events. Would it be possible to book a table for 5–10 people?”
Venue: “Sure!”
Us: “Great! There’s just one thing, we host our meetups only at places that accept Bitcoin payments. Would you be open to giving it a try?
There are zero costs involved and we can set you up in no time, is as easy as downloading an app (wallet). The best part is there’s zero risk: if you decide you don’t want to keep the Bitcoin, we can buy it back from you in cash at the end of the event.”
Venue says Yes: they made a sale and gained new loyal customers only for being open minded.
Venue says No: they lost a decent sale
Its all about the incentives. Spending bitcoin is how you create an incentive to accept bitcoin and this is how we accelerate adoption.
This is one of the many reasons why we have gone from 0 to 50+ merchants at @nprofile…5c6t in less in 18 months.
We use @nprofile…0n4h because of its UX and the very handy POS feature. Showing business bitcoin adoption in the @nprofile…v3dy also helps a lot.
Particularly in New Zealand, this is becoming increasingly easy as well thanks to Bitcoin-only exchanges like Stacked, where you can instantly spend & replace using lightning.
This is how we make bitcoin tangible, real for no-coiners…before they know it, they have started their Bitcoin Journey.
Bitcoin is money, but only if we use it as such.
Onwards.
P.S: So far, nobody has asked for cash instead of Bitcoin at the end of the event, but they have all wanted to learn more about Bitcoin. Once they grasp it is very much like digital gold, they figure it is best to just HODL.

🥊 Another milestone for the Bitcoin Basin.
We are excited to welcome QFC as the first martial arts gym in Queenstown to accept Bitcoin! ⚡
You can now improve your fitness, challenge yourself, and learn the importance of self-defence through group, private, and women-only classes in Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA, and more.
Talking about Proof of Work for the mind and body.
Our circular economy is growing by the day, and there is no stopping it.
Welcome QFC to the @nprofile…67ea family! 🧡

Oppression seems normal… until an alternative emerges.
Having your money (which is your time and energy) devalued by unpredictable and ever-changing government measures is, quite simply, oppression.
That’s why #bitcoin is nothing short of a peaceful revolution: a system where individuals voluntarily join a network built on transparency and fixed rules. A stable, open technology that offers solid foundations on which anyone can build with confidence.
It’s a system that welcomes everyone, doesn’t discriminate, and never forces you to stay. You’re free to come and go as you please.
But the truth is, once you discover this alternative, why would you go back to an oppressive system?
