I mean, in a sense, forcing people who didn't ask for mod powers to suddenly be mods because of very minor criticism and then bailing seems like power tripping to me. "If you don't like the way I do it, do it yourself!" Where the power tripping is taking their ball and going home because people don't like how they're doing it.

I'm not personally involved in any way, but I saw this happen and thought it roughly fits this community, if in a slightly backwards kind of way.

I mean, I've been saying this since LLMs were released.
We finally built a computer that is as unreliable and irrational as humans... which shouldn't be considered a good thing.
I'm under no illusion that LLMs are "thinking" in the same way that humans do, but god damn if they aren't almost exactly as erratic and irrational as the hairless apes whose thoughts they're trained on.

How has it not been abundantly fucking clear that they have **zero** plans to let go of power, whether it's Trump in charge or not? They wouldn't be doing *any* shit like this if they even had a whiff of Democrats coming back into power and using these same shenanigans to clean up the government and shut down places like FOX News.

You just can't buy ***too old*** or the inverse happens and the performance per watt drops. I think you're right that 2012 is about the cutoff. *Maybe* 2007 for certain items, like my 2007 iMac. But if you're getting back to the Pentium 4 era you've gone too far and need to turn back around.

Ah the classic "anyone who disagrees with me is mentally ill" because I can't be fucked to understand other people because I'm actually mentally ill myself and unwilling to get help.
It's called projection.

A pretty silly one but...
AMD because they are better supported in Linux in my experience. I dropped Intel and Nvidia a while back now.
Similarly, I have had better experiences with MSI for both motherboards and GPUs more recently than any other brand. ASUS was a long go-to for me but has failed me a lot more in the modern era.

I just want to know if reports are failing for anyone else and if we need to be making some kind of plea to the admins/moderation teams/developers to try to fix it.
Because not being able to report this obvious spam is a problem.

A popular post today asked for opinions from Republicans. The majority of the responses are not from Republicans.
If it was accurate, it would be a nearly empty comment section with one or two real conservatives who brought their real opinions.
I remember a similar comment section from when I first started here on Lemmy asking Twitter users why they were still using it and there were like a fucking hundred comments saying "I'm not using it/I don't use it." Cool, real helpful, folks.
Seriously, what compels this behavior? It only drowns out any real answers.
Is it really important to be the hundredth person to say the same shit that's already been said in a thousand other threads? Especially when the thread in question was asking for *differing* opinions?

I don't know about girls but in high school my group of nerds fell in with a "popular guy" who turned out to not have any close friends because he was so popular people always assumed he was busy and didn't call him.
So he fell in with some nerd freaks who *did* call him. Fun times.

>Hackers leaked thousands of files from Lexipol, a Texas-based company that develops policy manuals, training bulletins, and consulting services for first responders.
>The manuals, which are crafted by Lexipol’s team of public sector attorneys, practitioners, and subject-matter experts, are customized to align with the specific needs and local legal requirements of agencies across the country.
>But the firm also faces criticism for its blanket approach to police policies and pushback on reforms.
>The data, a sample of which was given to the Daily Dot by a group referring to itself as “**the puppygirl hacker polycule**,” includes approximately 8,543 files related to training, procedural, and policy manuals, as well as customer records that contain names, usernames, agency names, hashed passwords, physical addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.

Dubai already exists and it is also built on human suffering and death. Tourists flock there.
You are sadly correct, it will be another rich persons playground. Trump just wants his own Dubai.

I mean, fair, but a lot of the "why" with these guys boils down to "The world acts like all men are terrible, sex-crazed jerks who are violent, angry, and unable to control their emotions while claiming they're actually stoic and that makes me feel bad about myself."
Then, their solution is to *double down* on all those things because they're upset about being unfairly accused.
Look, if your response to people assuming you're a shitty person is to just... become an even shittier person to prove it, I think it says there was something *deeply* wrong with you *before* you doubled down.
I've heard the same shit about men my whole life and not fucking once did it make me go "God damn, I should just be a pile of shit then!" No, every time it inspired me to self-reflect and try to change my behaviors for the better.
So I reiterate, if your response is to double down, something was wrong with you *before* the turn to Nazism.
Like I don't know why else talking about "rape culture" resulted in young men chanting "Your body, *my* choice!" at women other than being *born and raised as a piece of shit.*

About 10% of women (or one in ten) experience a horrorshow called endometriosis that causes them non-stop abdominal pain.
Often the only way to really "solve" it is a hysterectomy.
They're literally just going to abuse a large number of women for something they never asked for.

Definitely don't do that, and hey everyone else, definitely don't siteban realbitcoin.cash or defederate from them. That wouldn't be nice.

>OK, maybe you wouldn't pay three grand for a Project DIGITS PC. But what about a $1,000 Blackwell PC from Acer, Asus, or Lenovo?
---
>Besides, why not use native Linux as the primary operating system on this new chip family? Linux, after all, already runs on the Grace Blackwell Superchip. Windows doesn't. It's that simple.
>Nowadays, Linux runs well with Nvidia chips. Recent benchmarks show that open-source Linux graphic drivers work with Nvidia GPUs as well as its proprietary drivers.
>Even Linus Torvalds thinks Nvidia has gotten its open-source and Linux act together. In August 2023, Torvalds said, "Nvidia got much more involved in the kernel. Nvidia went from being on my list of companies who are not good to my list of companies who are doing really good work."

Seriously this sentiment is old as hell. This *comic* is old as hell.
The BioWare of today is not the one that made the original Baldur's Gate. Shit, it's not even the BioWare that made the original Dragon Age.
They've been a hollowed out shell chasing whatever "AAA" style sells the most for a long time now. If Baldur's Gate 3 had come out before Witcher 3, you can bet your ass Veilguard would look and play a hell of a lot more like BG3, because it's painfully clear they did everything they could to crib the speed of the combat in Witcher 3, which was the hot shit when they started development. Similar to how Inquisition was chasing the Open World fad. If Baldurs Gate 3 had been the hot shit when they began development? Veilguard would have played like that instead.
It is what it is, and this has been this way since at least Dragon Age 2/Mass Effect 2.

It's Marvel Fatigue.
Not everything needs to be 1. about the end of the world 2. nonstop action packed and 3. literally everyone has rapid-fire quips locked and loaded.
Also, if it's running long like the Marvel flicks have been running, it's attention span fatigue as well.
Reshoots won't help, people will just turn to other movies and other media.
EDIT: Also ancient ass Harrison Ford as Red Hulk is just reaching. Motherfucker almost died while shooting one of the more recent Star Wars flicks. Guy can barely move, but sure, he becomes Red Hulk. They needed someone who isn't genuinely a crotchety fucking old man. Old, but not that god damned old.
