Ghost of Ratboy

Was just laughing at the latest reports of the reflecting pool paint peeling.
Then I stopped because it was never supposed to last. It was only supposed to provide an excuse to siphon taxpayer money to cronies.
It was wildly successful in its intended purpose.

One day, once we get past this era of “AI,” we’ll look back upon it as some sort of contagion that spread throughout upper and then middle management. A mania that they believed was doing something while it barely moves the needle (if at all).

My thought was just stripping away all the exceptions, deductions, credits. So that when the billionaire tax marginal tax rate is 35% or whatever it actually is, that they pay that amount.
And then I don’t need to spend hours filing taxes each year. I just pay the marginal rate and I’m done.

2026-02-16 03:35:11 UTC

What if we just had a tax system where everyone just paid the marginal rate on income? It’d be like 5 mins to complete taxes and billionaires would have to pay too.

Among other reasons, one reason for the increasing retail theft that business owners and law is enforcement doesn't seem keen to highlight is the reduction of staffing.
Just walked out of a Michael's where there is one cashier, 6+ self checkout machines (all in use), an online self-service pickup area, and just a few employees throughout the remainder of the store.
I'm not saying they need more staffing but it is a business decision to cut labor and accept an increase in shrink.

I sent this along to an HR contact that I have there. I doubt anything will happen but I couldn't do nothing.
It pisses me off so much. It again adds to the fact that my layoff was not a neutral layoff based on skills. I was targeted because I was outspoken to a new and controlling manager. And HR let it happen. And don't fucking soil my name when I'm not around to defend it.

Did you know?
BBQ flavored chips today are actually based on a nearly extinct type of BBQ sauce that suffered a major decline due to a disease outbreak decades ago. That sauce has since been replaced by a variety that is immune to that particular disease. This is why BBQ chips don't actually taste like the BBQ you can buy at your local grocery.

I see no way that AI is returning anything near the value of what it's taking to power it. It's not sustainable. Big tech must be subsidizing it heavily in hopes that something useful comes from it and/or they beat competitors and lock in a monopoly.
