My great uncle immigrated to Canada from Germany in the early-to-mid 1950's. I was somewhere in the middle of my 20's before I knew that his name wasn't 'Eddie'... instead of his given name... Adolf (named after his uncle, not the guy that ruined that name pretty much forever).
It caused me some problems after his passing since some of his accounts (phone / TV / lease / banking / etc.) didn't all have the exact same name on them.

If they won’t write a will, get them to do the bare minimum - get onto the title for any property they own, get added to their bank accounts (as joint), and ask them to switch the beneficiary on their retirement accounts, life insurance, and investments.
There’s very little left over for probate once you cover those three things.
Also, make the argument that completing a Power of Attourney and Will will help you make sure their wishes are respected after they’re gone.
