ah, I heard that but didn't look into it.
So specifically in 8.5.12? Or did it exist before? Does it exist in the 8.4, 8.3 and 8.2 latests as well?
Very interesting if fix by AI! Verrrry interesting.

AI finding bugs...hmm, OK. Once they've found them all things should settle down a bit.
AI fixing bugs... Uh oh! 😬
But maybe we should just turn AI off while everyone is patching their gear. Once it's off... We could leave it off, as a treat.

I tried a little web search before commenting, nothing came up - any chance you have their website address so I can look them up? I will be happy to remove my comments if I am in error here
however, as I said in other comments, even if it's done as a joke it's still a little painful.

I am aware of that fact, and I appreciate the restriction of custom forks in NetBSD buuuuuut I am drawing my line against Mozilla. I cannot in good conscience use their actual browser - using a custom fork is the way I tell Mozilla I do not appreciate what they have done to Firefox.
I am aware of how this could be perceived as irony, but it is not.

at one point in the past, the "metaverse" was "here to stay"
And cryptocurrencies...
Arguably, cryptocurrencies have stayed around, but only used by criminals and illegal porn peddlers which, coincidentally, is the same final destination for AI too.

Ah, the old "AI is here to stay" mantra...
Well, we know how far down the "let's burn the planet" rabbit hole this person is, don't we!

I don't think it's secrecy, I think it's privacy, and we should respect that.
When it comes down to it, we don't know the identity of many developers anyway, It's just a name that we may see has contributed to a few things here and there. I've never gone to look up who grunfink is, for example, nor have I felt the need to.
Personally, I'm OK with it. I think Stefano is a trustworthy person, so I am happy to have him vouch for the others.

Any #MIT license nerds out there?
Quick question: I've discovered a client has thrown together a bunch of different AI generated "apps" (hosted around the planet on Vercel, Netlify, etc. On public links...but that's another story). These apps seem to use chunks of React JS - not React JS as a whole, just parts of it.
Now, the whole thing does not include the MIT license so I suspect it's in breach anyway, but I was wondering what the situation is around tearing some parts of the project up and using just those parts without accreditation to ReactJS? Seems a bit iffy, right?

_bad_ handypeople do not need to care about their work...but good handypeople take pride in the work they do.
Anyway, totally agreed self-hosting isn't for everyone. Definitely not something to recommend something they do unless they understand some critical infrastructure, but that does not make it bad.

self-hosting is bad in the same way hanging your kitchen cabinets is bad
They work and are probably fine, but you're always worried they're going to fall off the wall and trash the rest of your house in the process
