In both cases, it reminded me that in a vacuum, the mass of the block is not important.

If I show some uncertainty, like this: "I think the standard gravity near the earth's surface of 9.3 m/s^2. So, how fast will a 1-kg block dropped in a vacuum from a 5-meter height be going when it hits the ground?" it will correct the constant and do the correct calculation.

It's less good with math or physics problems. If I state a parameter as a given, like this: "Given a standard gravity near the earth's surface of 9.3 m/s^2, how fast will a 1-kg block dropped in a vacuum from a 5-meter height be going when it hits the ground?" it will do the calculation with the wrong gravitational constant.

mastodon.social is run by a German non-profit that depends on contributions to operate the servers. Like most non-profits, they probably have reserves to keep operating for some period of time, but if they ran out of money, they'd eventually have to shut down the server. So, in the bad case that Mastodon GmbH ran out of money, I think it's possible. Let's make sure that doesn't happen!

Would the Fediverse survive mastodon.social going offline?

you can get pretty far with Mastodon's implementation of actors, collections and objects! It's an OK read-only API. The CORS support sucks, though; you have to run everything through a proxy.

"Social API servers SHOULD provide an inbox collection that accepts the GET HTTP method. Social API servers SHOULD allow actors to read their own inbox collection.
"Social API servers SHOULD provide an outbox collection that accepts the POST HTTP method."
I'm not crazy about the language though. It needs tightening up.

authorization code flow is so common in OAuth 2 that a lot of people just call it "OAuth". What were you thinking of instead?

using an LLM, a nontechnical person can assemble a mostly working app. They can debug it. They can add to it.
I think that's part of the exuberance. If you can finally get technology to do what you want, it's got to feel like magic. No wonder people have such high expectations.
