Sounds like my family 😒. I’ve given up on them. Until they start a convo about it, I avoid covid talk. I’ve gotten the digital door shut down on me on family group texts so many times that I know they don’t want to hear it. So I don’t bother, even though I really want to say something. One relative has long covid but doesn’t want to acknowledge that. Tremendously frail since covid

CDC is taking orders from its leader and is sending the public a message that the pandemic is over. No matter what the government declares, SARS-CoV2 will continue to circulate, wreaking havoc to everyone's future health. This virus is not exclusive to at risk people. Everyone's future health is at risk, especially with multiple reinfections. Without universal vaccine recommendations, those younger than 65 who may want a covid vaccine will have to pay out of pocket. It's all about $

I'm so sorry you both have covid 😢. Since you cannot take Paxlovid, consider metformin which helps decrease risk for long covid up to 54% in non-diabetics. It's cheap and with few side effects. Start within 6 days. It will not shorten your course of symptoms though. http://archive.today/2025.02.05-170733/https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/metformin-may-reduce-long-covid-non-diabetic-population-2024a1000ja0?_gl=1*ra96a6*_gcl_au*NjY5NDE1MzU5LjE3Mzg3NzUxNDA. Rest up and may you recover with no sequelae.

My parents are in complete denial. They saw many of their older community members die from covid. They say seeing masks is traumatizing. They think covid is mild now and covid vaccines are dangerous. They say they've lived a full life and are ready to meet their maker. It is impossible to reason with them. We've argued about this and it nearly ruined our relationship. So they promised no covid-related talk so I could visit, masked.

My parents are aging and live in the South where nobody masks. They expect sharing meals indoors when I visit. I use Azelastine nasal spray, Profi nasal spray, have a QT3 personal air purifier blowing at my face at the table and a BlueAir air purifier I gifted them at the floor by my side. I mask all other times in their home. I still do not feel safe since my dad is a social butterfly, but I stayed 8 days and got lucky with no infection I know of. Boosted 3 wks before.

I am in the US in the Pacific Northwest. Hardly anybody is masking where I live except for one or two in a store every once in awhile. Even medical providers, nurses and clinic staff are unmasked. Your points mentioned are applicable here also.
If people want to take the risk and go unmasked in public these next 10 days before Christmas, that's on them. Not I. Influenza and pertussis also are on the rise here.

Ugh! 😫 Some say it may take a decade for people to finally accept new scientific understandings like the dangers of nicotine or HIV causing AIDS. We’re on year 5 of the pandemic now. I guess those next 5 can’t come any faster for us. #CovidIsNotOver #CovidisAirborne #COVID

Just flew from the Pacific NW to the South. Probably saw maybe 8 people in masks in 3 airports. One stewardess with a surgical mask. I'm noticing more dry coughs around me also, though I saw a large woman hacking a lung unmasked and a baby with a croupy cough. Massive failure of the US public health system, esp during the largest summer surge in 2 yrs.
The covid denialism is like a cancer metastasizing. It's killing the US.
