I recall trying to sign up to the forest and getting a bunch of error messages. Ok0 is something that someone else signed me up to I believe... By which I mean someone once asked me if I want one of those identifyer things and I said, "sure"

I don't think Russia cares... They have more cannon fodder (soldiers) and nuclear weapons than the US. I think Russians have more to win/lose in Ukraine than the Ukrainian population and announcements like that will justify their position and cause them to double down.

We recently got a new electricity contract. Because we have an EV we get super cheap power between 12-6 AM for charging. It's nice. Actually our whole bill is about a quarter of what it was because our solar panel rebate is higher too.

Last time that happened to me, I spent five hours waiting for a plane only to be told that the flight was cancelled and come back to the airport in the morning. In my case it's because tensions flared between India and Pakistan and our flight was supposed to go over Pakistan... Is there some kind of international event happening...?

I've often (but not always) had the opposite experience when spending time in developing countries. Life might be less convenient, but the sense of reliance on community and genuine vitality of people has always seemed full of life to me. But perhaps that is the danger of being raised in a Western nation then spending time in such places.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! 🤗I have more than healthy levels of cynicism, but I know how my parents instilled it and I don't think I could do the same to my own kids. That's another part of my problem, no real good role models. I wouldn't know how to support a child's emotional, social, educational and spiritual development and I'm aware that I'm probably too selfish to do it properly.

It's expensive... Also trying to unbrainwash them from the ideological BS they will be indoctrinatiled into at school seems like a downer. I'll probably end up in prison for protecting my kid... It's all just risky and time consuming.

Hierarchy and government aren't the same thing. Voluntary hierarchies are good and may be conducive to having order in a community. Belief in the necessity of government is feeding the parasitic class and keeping people at an infantile state of responsibility for themselves and their communities.

I don't have kids but I can imagine this to be true. I've found happiness in pursuit of other meaningful responsibilities. Though to be fair, I'm free to pursue them instead of worrying about food/shelter and other personal needs, so in some senses I'm quite "free".
