feels very elitist and ableist, plenty of those "evil tech illiterates" like me use computers/phones as disability aids. are you now saying that people like me shouldn't use tech because we are not literate enough for a nerd's standards?
because that's what you sound like.
"hurrdurr people don't learn new tech!" yeah, guess what, not everyone is running a server or doing coding bullshit. there are so many usecases for computers.
i know how to set it up to work with my drawing devices, and that's what i fucking *need*. for you i may still be a tech illiterate, but *i do not need to know same shit as you*
i could sit your gatekeepy ass in front of a PC and tell you to finetune a drawing software with a specific tablet model, and fucking laugh at you that you're a tech illiterate for not being able to do what I can do. you wouldn't feel happy no?
stop with this bs

hey new #introduction for new me
i am alex, i'm a trans guy who recently fled to the netherlands from a terrifying environment.
i am the infamous nederboo of the fedi, but if you happen to not know me at all then here's my informal resume:
- i do art stuff that i post on @narretje; and i do commissions if you are interested. usually i just draw whatever i like instead of trying to chase trends
- i do vidya games, mostly on my 3DS but also happen to play on a friend's switch. i am very normal about nintendo stuffs and pokemon games by the way. i have very normal opinions on things regarding that
- i run this instance (nederland.gay) which has open registrations. it's tiny in here but i hope this place will grow one day
- yes, the part of me living in netherlands is no longer a joke. it is real and i am physically among the funny people. though at the time of writing this it's been a mere week since i fled here hi.
- i know 3 languages: polish (my native language), english (second language) and dutch (newest addition and still very barebones); now guess which place did i flee.
- i am autistic, mentally ill (yes, i am normal about mad pride) and also have a hearing impairment that makes me wear a hearing aid a lot of the time. at the time of writing i am also non-to-vaguely verbal (unless you speak polish to me), so i use a text-to-speech in order to communicate or relay via my friend. i am not accepting of medical/academic approaches to issues surrounding disability, i wish more room was given to raw and unfiltered testimonies of actual disabled people who aren't residing in their ivory towers of doctorates. last thing you want to do is to argue with me on that. i also often may talk about my disabled life and accessibility. i'm open to questions but these will be answered from my perspective. if you know one disabled person then you know one disabled person.
- i am queer and opinionated, and you will not like my opinions probably. unless you are normal about trans men, that is.
if this somehow makes you want to follow me, please make sure i can verify you are 18 or older cuz i don't want minors on my yard
i do not tolerate replyguyism, feelings yakuza, techbros/fossbros and transmisandrists. bye.
on the internet, everyone knows i'm That One Dutch Cat
and rest of my areas of interest that i didnt mention:

i know this has been probably already said but yall dont need to be super disabled to use an accessibility setting on your phone. do it. normalize using these things. yall.
at least in my POV if i were to see more people also use TTS to communicate then holy shit I wouldn't feel like such a freak even if those other users were actually verbal
yall go use these accessibility options if they help you regardless if youre disabled or not oke?

also, because there's a worrying lack of hearing aid user rep in fedi emojis, i decided to make a neocat wearing a BTE hearing aid
tbh once i move things i will make more emotes like this because im frankly disappointed in this
feel free to share

so now it's my time for the official #introduction
hi, i'm alex, an east european ghost haunting the lands of nether and i run this place. fairly sure some of you already know me on fedi, but if not then keep reading
i'm a trans guy on the internet. i am often described as a devil's advocate or a contrarian because i tend to defy people's expectations and views of reality.
i don't take academia kindly and i believe it makes you out of touch with reality, the "low classes" so to say. my rough and terrible life circumstances molded me into who i am today (and i'm not entirely saying it's good, i carry a lot of trauma with me that possibly will never heal) and i believe it's rarely possible to fully comprehend one's suffering without going through a similar thing
i am also shamelessly gay on main and not afraid to admit to liking men, after all it's the most masculine thing one may like. if i don't yearn for men then the world has fallen apart
i also make art! due to my life circumstances and disability that was my source of income (but more often than not i wasn't earning enough to cover even basic cost of life) - and i honestly wish i could live without worrying for survival and funds to just devote myself to drawing i swear!! with that being said if you're a big fan of generative AI you can frankly fuck off because you are not welcome here
i also run a website at hofnarretje.eu where i post my art mostly. i have a guestbook, be my guest to sign it!!
i take interest in mental health strictly from mad perspectives. i think mad pride deserves more attention than it gets and that sanism is a hugely accepted form of ableism that not many take seriously.
at the time of writing i'm still not there but i look forward to starting a new life in the netherlands, given that i've already been autistic over this place and started learning the language..yeah!! i hope it goes well!!
here's tag spam for reach, including other interests of mine that i haven't mentioned:

hi hi, can i ask for a boost of this message?
**nederland.gay** aims to be a small and cozy instance serving the bilingual (english+dutch) audience, especially queer and otherwise marginalized folk (but we welcome anyone who has their heart in the right place)
i want it to become an alternative since there's very little places on fedi that seem to cater to dutch speakers (native or not), and the options available at hand are too.. generalist so to say
we just happened to become a thing today, so we want to federate with fedi and crashtest this thing.
we run on akkoma, have plenty of custom emojis (you can ask for more if you'd like!) and plenty of room for new people
we require our users to be at least 18 years old in order to join. if you want to be part of this place, feel free to register! just read the "about" page first to avoid any misunderstandings. feel free to ask me about the stuff here.
