yeah but im talking about the distro-agnostic packaging here
also AUR was what made me give up on arch, most community packages for more obscure stuff are just way too fragile and poorly maintained
nixpkgs is kinda annoying as well though, mostly due to build failures on unstable

ig its the least of the evils and has the largest app library
like snap spins up a whole ass container....
i guess there's appimage but you end up with 10 copies of same libraries on your system if you use it
and the update UX is... meh

kinda my thoughts abt it, i love it especially for servers but i might at least drop home-manager and only use nixos for the bare os (cause i still like the benefits of it)... also might go back to stable branches from unstable ones

i.e. people using Shizuku instead of SessionInstaller in e.g. F-droid won't be affected at all.
Only Package Installer UI would include this check, and presumably SessionInstaller/legacy apk installer api
"Device owner" apps/Dhizuku would also be exempt from this

also you make it appear as the mentions of the "advanced flow" only appear on that random year old article, but in fact it is explicitly mentioned on the main FAQ and it also *EXPLICITLY* states that installs through adb won't be affected at all.
> ...we plan to offer two paths for experienced users to install unverified apps:
>
> Android Debug Bridge (ADB): Developers and power users can still use Android Debug Bridge (ADB) to build, test, and install modified or unverified apps on their own devices, which remains the standard method for development work.
>
> Advanced flow: We are building a flow that allows experienced users to proceed with installing an unverified app after going through a series of clear warnings. This new mode is designed to resist social engineering, helping users fully understand the risks, but ultimately gives experienced users the choice to accept the heightened security risk and install the software. We are gathering early feedback on the design of this feature now and will share more details in the coming months.
this (again, very explicitly) covers both unverified and modified apps.
also there are couple moe exceptions:
> Apps distributed through your organization’s store, on managed devices, won't need to complete the verification requirements

hey @npub1ter…7hd9
i dont agree with planned changes to Android either (and hate where android is going with this in general) but straight up misinformation and hiding what's already known about those limitations google wants to impose is imo not the best way to fight it.
