Husband of the wonderful @AnoNJG. All art that I post on this was drawn by her, for me, posted obviously with full permission. Should something be drawn by another artist I will make it clear and credit them, obviously.

@nprofile…e4h0 @nprofile…praa As for them not being scalpers... I mean, they often charge as much as they can legally get away with, which is again far beyond the worth of what they provide. That is the definition of scalping.
Edit: And unlike with something like a game console, you can't just decide to not rent a house/apartment... you need to live somewhere.

@nprofile…e4h0 @nprofile…praa I disagree that they provide a service. Landlords are parasites who benefit unfairly off of others. They do the bare minimum (and sometimes not even that), while being compensated far beyond what their supposed services are worth.
And no, the government shouldn't replace landlords. Everyone should fully own a home, and that is well possible. We just need to ensure wealth is more fairly distributed, instead of continuously favoring those who already have too much.

@nprofile…praa @nprofile…4za2 @nprofile…e4h0 I can see the argument there, and I agree that not everyone that 'contains' something bad necessarily is, to the point it needs to be completely avoided.
In this case, as I already said in our more direct conversation, I think the bad just massively outweighs the good.
But as I already said there as well, this is it for me today. Take care!

@nprofile…praa I dunno, my wife is really into wrestling, and she often enthusiastically regales me with something or other that happened. I don't really care about wrestling but it's nice that she's so enthusiastic about it, and I'd definitely rather have her rant at me about it than spend time 'talking' to an LLM. :P
Anyway, I need sleep.

2026-08-01 20:02:34 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…praa Fair, that is pretty bad for the environment, and also probably your wallet. Still, it's on a pretty different level.
LLMs have so many negatives, beyond just the environmental, which is already pretty bad, and the advantages seem miniscule. The scales tip too far to one side to consider it worth it.
I dunno, 'annoying' friends and family with something you're enthusiastic about seems more healthy and wholesome to me.
In the end, of course, you have to make your own choice.

2026-08-01 19:50:13 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…praa Sure, but cars are multitudes less bad, and will continue to become less so.
Not sure what hobbies you have that are so bad for the environment...
And yes, politicians are always a sucky choice because it seems impossible to find one that only supports what you support.
But that doesn't mean we can't still reject some things. We don't need to accept the bad with the good about everything. Do you really lose so much by just not using LLMs anymore?

- reply

@nprofile…praa @nprofile…4za2 @nprofile…e4h0 It's not really about what you're using it for, it's about using it at all.
And I just mean... you tend to have those takes where you seem to not really want to take a firm stance. Like here, you admit many of the bad points of LLMs, but still don't consider that much of a mark against it, or a reason to more firmly oppose it.
To take a line from one of my favorite musicals... If you stand for nothing, what will you fall for?

2026-08-01 19:17:53 UTC

@nprofile…4za2 @nprofile…praa @nprofile…e4h0 There is no ethical way to use one of those stupid LLM bots (I refuse to call them AI because that devalues what AI actually stands for), and you're really kidding yourself if you think otherwise, Sugar.
I like your stuff, and I generally like what you say, but you have those incredibly milquetoast takes on some things...

2026-08-01 19:05:45 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…praa @nprofile…4za2 @nprofile…e4h0 Funnily enough it's actually not 'only getting better'. It's getting actively worse. And I don't mean from an environmental impact viewpoint, I mean the actual models are getting worse and have to be regularly scrubbed. If left alone they'll go into what is essentially a feedback loop, where they learn from each other's slop and so become worse as time goes on.
Also the technology to make it into a true neural network doesn't exist.

@nprofile…e4h0 @nprofile…praa @nprofile…4za2 I'm with Gatita, people shouldn't use it. In fact I would fully support entirely outlawing it.
There is a certain AI-fatigue in the workplace, too, where many people are wishing to return to their workflow pre-AI. So it's not making things easier for them, either.

@nprofile…praa From what people are saying, Nintendo basically lets their legal department do what they want. Apparently in the aftermath of this, they were unhappy with them and placed more restrictions. So maybe Nintendo itself wouldn't have really gone after Palworld, but their legal department thought they should, or maybe just saw it as a good opportunity.
I don't HATE Nintendo, I'm just generally not a fan of... companies anymore. I will still get their stuff if it interests me though.

2026-07-10 05:53:33 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…praa That's the game. People were saying they did it because Palworld copied their designs, but the lawsuit never even mentioned any of that. As Gatita says, they got some harebrained patents, all of them AFTER Palworld released, on very vague gameplay elements.

2026-07-10 05:47:57 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…e4h0 @nprofile…praa Definitely the same for Pokemon, I've not really played any of the games for... several generations. Last I played at all was Black and White 2, and then it was mostly romhacks based on them.
I still enjoy some Nintendo titles, though as a company they don't really get any leeway from me. They're just as bad in some areas than most of the other big companies.

2026-07-10 05:44:49 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…e4h0 @nprofile…praa It really is. I don't hate Pokemon but it did feel satisfying to see Nintendo's legal team post a 40 million dollar loss connected to this farce of a lawsuit.
Palworld's just a really fun game. Are some designs a bit close to some Pokemon? Yeah, probably, but I mean, they're not direct copies, and the gameplay was completely different from any Pokemon game.

And occasionally lashing out isn't the same as being an abusive asshole. Sometimes things get to be too much. I mean, the very fact that you took a break in order to stop lashing out at people shows you're not really being abusive.

@nprofile…qgma I think people who post huge sets like this usually get around this problem by posting only the first or second 4 pictures as public and the rest as 'quiet public', which means they don't 'spam' the timeline. AFAIK this way you don't get rate-limited.

@nprofile…5hky I see some people mark pee, and some don't, I have not seen anyone get in trouble so far.
Someone was warned about posting scat with no content warning, but they weren't banned.
I'm sorry if this is stressful for you, I just wanted to help you avoid future problems. I don't like scat but I would not have reported it or anything.

2026-03-24 16:27:33 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…5hky In that case it is probably subtle enough. If you want to be safe, like I said, just click on the content warning and write 'watersports' if that panel comes up. But generally it's more for somewhat more extreme stuff. Scat however does count as extreme.

2026-03-24 16:18:11 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…5hky It is only for 'extreme' stuff. Loli is expected on Baraag and needs to only be marked as sensitive. For scat and watersports (which is what peeing is), you would just fill out the field in the content warning on top of that.

2026-03-24 15:50:56 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…93dz @nprofile…spjz @nprofile…5hky The rules require that content warning is used for all posts that are NSFW, and in case of "3D, guro, gore, scat or other extremes" the warning field has to be filled out so people can filter it. That is not optional, not doing so breaks the rules.

I guarantee you no artists have really lost business due to it. If anything, the payment processors are being a bitch. Not AI.

@nprofile…9lrd Nah, don't apologize. It's not like you choose to have low self-esteem. And while there are ways to deal with that, they don't work for everyone, because everyone is different. Our brains don't all work the same.
I wish it was different, too, but that's not because it annoys me when you do that, it's because it sucks that you have to feel that way.

2025-04-25 12:01:49 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…9lrd Do keep in mind you don't know how many of those people are even still active, but yeah, I agree that that's way too few, especially since it was a really impressive and well-done animation. I love that you actually made creampie versions and not just loops.
I mean, like I said, I do see plenty of artists that have more followers than you getting similar or lower numbers, but it definitely SHOULDN'T be that way.

2025-04-25 11:58:55 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…9lrd Alright. I'm sorry if what I said caused you additional distress. I wanted to reassure you, but I'm very bad at comforting language, apparently.
I do agree it sucks that so few people react at all, but I'm completely sure that has nothing to do with you. I don't really get it, either, but some people just... browse, and never interact in any way.

2025-04-24 15:50:23 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…9lrd @nprofile…k5jc For the record, I'm not withholding favs out of spite, I fav what I really like. Low self-esteem and anxiety can be a bitch, I don't blame you for your break-downs and your attempts at generating more engagement.
But I'm not going to favorite everything you post, either. If you think that's an insult, I'm sorry. If you'd rather I unfollow you or if you want to block me, well... that's up to you.
I do like your art, but not all your art hits me enough for me to fav it.

2025-04-24 15:43:41 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…9lrd You should be proud of it, it's fucking amazing. But how is it doing horribly? It's not getting the numbers you set, but the numbers you are getting are still pretty high.
And yeah, sure, people like the guy you mention exist, but they're the exception, not the rule. Plus, you know, he posts a ton of fanart, which, like I said, gets more engagement. And while your pic of Luna is technically fanart, it's not fanart of a big thing everyone knows.

2025-04-24 15:38:53 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…9lrd It's not about whether or not it costs me anything, it's that Favorites are like an archive. If I favorite something, it's because I want to easily find it again. If I favorited everything every artist I follow posted, I wouldn't be able to find those pictures I really like again.
And for the record, I did favorite and boost the animation, because I really like it. But even so, like I said, most people don't boost or favorite anything, ever. They just browse.

2025-04-23 14:10:17 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…9lrd Generally, pieces that are fanart tend to get somewhat higher numbers, because more people will know and care about them than OCs or random characters, too, so that can skew the count a little as well.
As for me, in order for me to favorite and boost something, it either needs to be extra-appealing to me, or feature characters I really want to see, or both. I can't say everyone follows those sort of rules, and like I said... most people are just not going to interact at all.

2025-04-23 14:07:12 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…9lrd I don't think it's that people don't like your animations, I think you have unrealistic expectations for engagement. I see artists with twice as many followers as you barely get the numbers you asked for on the animation... people just are that way, only a small number will boost/favorite, even less will comment.
I myself won't favorite everything an artist I follow posts, either... I follow an artist because I want to see their stuff, but not all of it is gonna be fav material.

@nprofile…3d4c I don't mind if someone is into actual kids, because they can't help it. But the people who call themselves MAPs are trying to normalize pro-contact arguments and take pride in it. And that, I do mind.
