@nprofile…wtal that would destroy half of the fun of “exploring new routes” for me. Sitting down with a map (paper or digital) and thinking about the different possible paths is part of the “adventure” - maybe also looking up some information or reading up on a post from some one else.
Sometimes I don’t even have to create a GPX file and send it to the watch. Just from spending some time looking at the map I can often remember the area and route I came up with.
The auto routing would definitely remove a lot of the fun for me.

So 85% of the Komoot employees were fired by the new owners (which is their usual thing - they have done it at their other acquisitions as well - buying random SaaS products, fire everyone and then squeeze out the last Pennie’s from the product without investing into new things). What a shame… Enshitification is around the corner.

@nprofile…g5gx thanks. Nice alternative. Easy with trains from the airport. And could be also done as an out and back run if time allows. Will put it on the list. and then decide on the day - also depending on the weather. though I know how it will be. Right, @nprofile…j7fc?

@nprofile…j7fc @nprofile…g5gx @nprofile…c5mq I have a few hours of “layover” on the morning of the first Saturday in April in ZUR. I thought of taking the train to Zurich Triemli and from there go up to Uetliberg, then continue on the top of the ridge to either Adliswil, Langnau or Sihlwald (maybe even Sihlbrugg depending on the time I have). I would then take the train bake to the airport. I have access to the lounge and can take a shower there. :-)
Something reasonable to do? Any other recommendations?

Year 2025. The only “square year” that most of us will see: 45^2 = 2025. The previous one was 1936 (44^2) and the next one will be 2116 (46^2).
Also
(1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9)^2 = 2025
and
1^3+2^3+3^3+4^3+5^3+6^3+7^3+8^3+9^3 = 2025

@nprofile…qndz Nice hike. Is that Grasleitenstein you climbed? The trees around the cross make it so “recognizable”.

Tegernseer Hütte (1650m) with Buchstein (1701m) to the left and Roßstein (1698m) to the right as seen from the north on top of Hirschberg (1668m). #mountainmonday

Ok, why 141350m of EG for the year? First I didn’t start the year with this number and goal - maybe passing the Kármán line and do 100000m was something I thought of. Turned out I did this in August. And then I just went on. In October/November I realized that maybe 141350m would be possible. I will leave this as a puzzle for now: why this number? I will double my donation to the chamois preservation program in Germany if someone solves this. Once I pass the 141350m of EG I will post the solution. So in a couple of days I guess.

@nprofile…g5gx The EXOspikes are great. And for even more snow and traction needs I also have their MICROspikes https://kahtoola.com/traction/microspikes-footwear-traction/
(when real Steigeisen would be an overkill and not usable)

Best investment to run during the winter (or if you are surprised by snow in September in the Bernese mountains - I look at you Wildstrubel😛) Also available at other EU online shops. Happy user and not affiliated.

@npub1pvf…ehv3 I found a course (after lots of trials and studying maps) here in Göteborg (out-and-back) that gives me 1000m of EG over 21km. Most of it is by climbing the hills that the city has through stairs (and some nasty steep climbs). Never counted the steps. A fun course. Takes about 2:45 to 3h to do.

@npub1npy…3sf4 🙏 I do all my running without headphones and no music/podcasts/audiobooks. I listen to nature, my thoughts, and my body. It is so nice to be really detached from all passive media consumption.

@npub1npy…3sf4 great hike. And post. Is there a reason you don’t add geographical information about the hike itself (map, starting/end points, …) so that others could redo it and also experience the region?
