I'm always super stressed when giving condolences or calming words in English, because I've never learned what the "right words" are - I literally lack the vocabulary and I'm worried it comes off flat.
That being said, I've never once gotten negative feedback, quite the contrary. People care that you care, not about the right words.

In Deutschland ist das Volk suverän. Der Kanzler ist es sicher nicht.

Warning: the Rust community is running out of iron based product names.

I'm pretty amazed how much "Move away from GitHub" is becoming a serious conversation popping up outside of the usual circles. Perceived product quality has dropped so hard that it's not just the usual moral argument anymore.
A good time for free and open source software solutions to compete.
Like, I'm talking "It's a topic in management level circles of multinationals".

Tired: “You can’t keep people from putting things up their nose.” (Old consulting proverb)
Wired: “You should encourage people to put things up their nose.” (COVID-19 testing)

I’ll open a brewery that caters to the compiler engineer audience.
Our first beer will be “The Target Tripel”. We’ll brew it as a Dubbel, Tripel or Quadrupel.

Phew, bin als Gutachter vor Gericht angefragt worden.
Zum Erfahrungsaustausch: Hat das schonmal eins gemacht? Also, im Softwarebereich? Vielleicht ne Person in Berlin?

The zen of coding is sometimes not thinking for 2 hours and then writing an important line of code. Sometimes it's just thinking for 2 hours and then closing the text editor because you found you don't need what you wanted to code.

@nprofile…5u70 My bet is on: the model is tested, the interface that dispatches to the model isn't.

Today in software quality: The Tern and Tern TX dive computers have a firmware bug that makes it use the wrong gas mix for its safety models in some - not niche - conditions (like, this is the model that prevents dive sickness by calculating nitrogen saturation in your body). That may lead to using a “less conservative model”, as they say.

Also amazing: That firmware is in the wild since January.
Also amazing: All the firmware version does on paper is enable a new paid addon for the dive computer.

@nprofile…vyme Much in the same vein, look out for each and every medical term applied to a group of people, not an individual. "Volksgesundheit" makes its ugly return.
