Well, we're still here, and I think things will look a lot different in 2027. Nostr is basically a flop now. Bitcoin is boring. No one actually fixed much in the last 10 years. We have a bigger plan.
My biggest mistake was vastly overestimating the integrity and intelligence of Bitcoiners as a community. If we hadn't been sucked into the same derivative R&D as most teams the first few years, we'd be closer to our goals.
I no longer care what Bitcoiners think. The culture is wholly retarded right now. I care about helping people solve real problems.

So if @nprofile…4gt7 says its okay, its okay? This is open source software, ask your AI to analyze my claims, not random uninformed people. THIS IS WHY YOU KEEP GETTING REKT.
Why should Tether scare anyone in this context? Tether has helped millions more people than Bitcoin, no? I am not aware of any crimes, any deception, nor any examples that are remotely relevant to Synonym tech. Tell me exactly why Tether is a factor?
Why isn't Jack a factor? He actually censored all of us in Twitter.
Why isn't Odell a factor? He led all of you to get robbed by Coldcard.
But here we are on Nostr, debating... Your ability to assess trust is severely broken.

My claim can be objectively verified, no opinion needed 😉
The DHT we use is made of MILLIONS of nodes and powers Torrents, which have already proven their censorship resistance, right?
Literally nothing is more decentralized and censorship resistant.

You can point to literally anything with PKDNS, and no one can stop you.
You do not have to self-host, but you can, which is what matters.
It's just like normal DNS, which can point to a cloud service, a CDN, a laptop in your home, a website, whatever.
I keep trying to tell you people we are building the best system, but the retardation is too strong.

Pubky doesn't use relays for content. There are roughly 5M-20M DHT nodes that will relay your endpoints though.

All because we are discussing zero-conf? Do you see how this is like arguing with a child? Is that what you want to be, someone with a childish grasp of Bitcoin that resorts to name-calling when challenged?
It's your choice, but have no issue speaking to you like a child if that's what you want (aside from it being very boring and depressing for me).

2026-06-12 19:08:42 UTC

There are more interesting designs for zero-conf than you realize, mostly because the topic has been taboo.
I could design multiple designs that would re-enable zero-conf.
Anyway, LN is a zero-conf system too, right?

Pubky does not require trusted caching servers.
The source of truth is always the user's homeserver and public key domain (PKARR record). Caches, indexers, mirrors, CDNs, and search services are optional performance layers, not authorities.
If a cache serves stale, filtered, or manipulated data, clients can fetch directly from the user's homeserver or use a different cache/indexer. The cache has no special power because it cannot change the user's identity, domain, or underlying data.
In practice, Pubky treats caches similarly to web CDNs: useful for speed and scalability, but entirely replaceable. The user's public key remains the stable identifier, and the PKARR record determines where authoritative data is located. If a cache disappears, lies, censors, or goes offline, users retain a credible exit by switching to another cache, another indexer, or direct retrieval from the source.

You don't understand how biased you are for an unimpressive solution. We didn't skip building on Nostr out of ego. Nostr is not relevant to anyone but Bitcoin maximalists (because they are the only ones gullible enough to think Nostr is amazing).
We don't build on Nostr because when we did try to give our ideas to Nostr people they were totally ignored and insulted. Our designs are not new, and they predate Nostr. Believe it or not, our work inspired Nostr, not copied it.
Pubky is strictly better than Nostr. There is literally nothing better about Nostr aside from having some (decreasing) users.
Useful people aren't welcome to build on Nostr. You have to be some kind of fake-famous blessed-by-Jack-or-Odell asshole to work here. Nostr wants loyalty and tribal behavior, and we aren't in your tribe so we don't get any respect.
So, fuck you, and fuck everyone that thinks Nostr is a holy grail, or anything special at all. Because the design is bad, and the community wouldn't let you save it if you tried. Nostr is for Bitcoin Podcast listeners that want to feel like they understand tech, but are too lazy to actually learn.
You don't care about solving problems or helping people. You care about being "cool" with your fake internet friends. Have fun staying on nostr, I don't care because the world is actually a better place when losers like you stay away from other platforms. X is better without such people. Pubky too. Nostr's best feature is gathering moronic losers into one place.
I'm only here to save the people that ended up here by mistake. The rest of you can go back to your stupid life larping as Satoshi.

You’re confusing routing with enforcement.
Bitcoin isn’t a packet network, it’s a global arbitration system with finite capacity.
Layering only works while users can still enforce their claims on L1 within the required time window. When that becomes too expensive, the system shifts from trustless to trusted.
Your probabilistic outcomes assume proof of work is obtained already, but layers create new trust games on top of future blockspace, not PoW.
The security model degrades under congestion. Because it doesn't scale, by design. Layers force you to trust your cosigner and compromise your prior PoW assurances.
The base layer size still determines how many people can retain real sovereignty. Layers force you to trust your cosigner and compromise your prior PoW assurances.

Imagine if you were your own ICANN and think about how that means you could be the authority of what your data is.
It wouldnt stop anyone from copying things you made public, but it would definitively provide a place that anyone could be sure to look for what YOU define as your data.

If nostr were the answer, people like me would be building on it.
Ask yourselves who the builders are that aren't choosing nostr, and why.
Then ask yourselves what all the people building here have in common.
Then compare these groups earnestly. I dont just mean Bitcoiners vs Bluehairsky. I mean their experience, talent, and reputation.
I mean the most talented and resourceful people; people that innovate, and have deep expertise. Why aren't they leaving where they are to build here?
Examples: Bitcoin Core devs, shitcoin expert devs that really do want to fix things, talented cryptographers, deeply experienced systems/p2p people, experienced entrepreneurs, reputable VCs and funders.
The closest I see here are people that got Bitcoin-rich and are now learning how to be angels by naively funding their friends and dead-end startup projects that arent much better than weekend hackathon submissions. A sandbox for playing.
Everything worth anything here is a subdivision of Bitcoin culture itself and Bitcoin privilege. Bitcoin is the only provider of talent and resources to Nostr. That worked great to bootstrap from nothing, but now what?
Deal with this, and figure out how to be relevant to other people, or Nostr will continue to be nothing more than a perpetual hackathon sandbox subsidized by a Bitcoiner ego-cult.
