I’ve changed my name:
Natalie Gray. (She/her)
For me, this change is just administrative: I feel exactly the same internally as I did yesterday.
This is a bigger change for you than it is for me, so please don't post big "OMG Congrats on Coming Out"-style stuff :D
It's like when Opal Fruits became Starburst. Or when Jif became Cif. Or when Marathon became Snickers.
Same shit, same package, new name on the label.
(No I don't have any non-UK examples)
My fedi account is now @npub1wpr…4n0m

I was on The Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2, speaking about the tech that makes train WiFi work (or not). You can listen to the whole thing via the link below.
At the start of the segment they attempt to speak to travel correspondent Simon Calder live on a train using WiFi only, then I discuss how the technology works and how it may be improved in the near future.
1h 36m into the show for the full segment
1h 41m for just me:

Here’s a thought: Different fediverse platforms are interoperable. For example, you can view mastodon accounts on Pixelfed and vice versa.
Which leads me to wonder why not have one fedi server that can post different types of content. Eg text/image/vertical video.
And then in the fedi client you can choose what type of content you want to see. Or what viewer mode you want to use?
That way you can follow a person once. And not have to follow their masto, Pixelfed, loops, wordpress(lol) etc.

It seems some US tiktokers have migrated to “redbook” which has a Chinese UI?
What I find intriguing ban-wise is TikTok will have a US company it’s operating from. How do they go about banning it?
What about DJI / Huawei / Tencent etc…?
Tencent invest in so much: Snapchat, Fortnite, LoL, Discord…

Despite the urge, remember the following are all none of your business to ask about:
Their size, weight, or any other body changes
When they’re going to get a partner
When they’re getting married
When they’re having a baby
Why they’re not drinking
Unless they’ve opened up to you about it first.

I’m not saying I don’t use Spotify. The convenience and discovery is very useful to me.
But as I’m in a position where I can afford to, I choose to buy CDs too!

Over the last 18 months, Spotify’s heads have consistently made millions out of the company, while lowering royalties, and laying off thousands of people!
If you like music & can afford to, please consider supporting artists, especially smaller ones.
Gig tickets, physical media, merch…

Today’s challenge: can I prototype a music-making or -controlling thing that uses rail data, in the amount of time the Eurostar takes to go from London to Belgium? 🚅
I call it Bruxelles-MIDI.
This may be a terrible pun but I’ve had the idea for ages, and maybe the time limit will help me actually start it.

Imagine there’s a button that when pressed would immediately change your body from what you have now, to that of a goose. You can only press the button once. When pressed everyone will have known you in this new form the whole time, so there’s no social impact at all.
Would you press that button?
If so you may be transgander 🪿

You do not have to scroll social media.
You do not have to watch rolling news.
Keeping up with news is not the same as mainlining it and wallowing in it.
You can see the stats and results later. Watching constantly won’t affect the outcome.
If you’re struggling Please take a break and do something nice for yourself.
