This looks great. ETA is 4th quarter 2027, so I don't know what to expect but I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Yeah you should.
On desktop, I recommend trying Feishin. It supports both Jellyfin and Subsonic and has tons of features. On MacOS, Manet and Discreet are both good Apple Music-inspired players.
I’m on iOS and I use Manet which I love but I’ve also tried and like (in order of preference): Discreet, Jellify, Finer.
On Android, Jellify also exists but Symfonium is often touted as the best option. The latter supports Jellyfin, Subsonic, and pretty much every other imaginable media server.

Great question. I don’t know specifics. To your point though, I agree Bandcamp is shady. Better than streaming giants but still sketch. I’m transitioning towards Subvert. Nonetheless, this is cool imo

Tl;dr I am still running the container because my server has tons of overhead but I’m not using it. Jellyfin is fantastic.

I use Jellyfin. A friend of mine told me I should try Subsonic/Navidrome and so I spun up an container with access to the same music as Jellyfin.
I tested Nautiline, Amperfy, and Arpeggi on iOS. It worked fine playback-wise, but as far as I could tell there were no metadata plugins and it got tons of stuff wrong.
This was particularly perplexing since I run everything through Musicbrainz Picard AND THEN two more plugins on Jellyfin, so it should be perfect.
Tl;dr 👇

Whoa. Bandcamp adding support for Subsonic was not on my 2026 bingo card 🤯

I have played it a lot on Steam Deck OLED but with online play disabled. Frankly I prefer it that way

New post out now! 📬
In this one I'm looking at the history if video game #emulation, my experience with it, and how involvement in this community has made me hate copyright.
I'll share some love for the Internet Archive and libraries of all sorts, encourage you to save your Nintendo spending to support indie developers, and make a rather lengthy, #leftist argument for why you should download and play #videogame ROMs.
Hope you enjoy💚
