yes and War has plagued our planet for centuries, and its destructive legacy continues to threaten our existence. Not only does war cause immense fiscal strain, but it also leaves lasting physical and emotional scars on countless lives and gerations. I am profoundly troubled by how war sustains the cycle of division, distancing us from the interconnectedness that is evident in every facet of our planetary society.
The costs of war are not confined to battlegrounds; they seep into our homes, our economies, and our cultures. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, global military expenditure in 2021 reached an all-time high of nearly $2.1 trillion. This staggering amount could instead have been funneled into solutions for the myriad challenges we face today, from climate change to poverty alleviation. Imagine a world where these funds are allocated to healing and rebuilding rather than destruction and division.

A contradiction need not be a barrier to the existence of a thing.
The ecological principle of unity in diversity grades into a richly mediated social principle; hence my use of the term social ecology.

He is trying to fix it from inside, I would prefer he looks at developing systems proposed by thinkers such as Joanna Macy, Kate Raworth, Jeremy Lent, Rianne Eisler and other systems thinkers.
Partnership would be a good start instead of trying to "save a generation of young people from unemployment". Maybe defining
work/employment as more than a means to collect tax could be looked at as well.

I prefer to think in terms of justice, something all groups would claim to want to develop, whether they are left, right or mibblin. It's hard because language leads to interpretation and thus division.

I would support participative democracy.

democracy and the people deserve better than adversarial party politics. Commentary is feeding into a system set up to manage the majority and maintain a domination system. I for one do not want a representative democracy.

Maybe we need to separate politics from democracy probably unrelated to your post.

The growth economy cannot continue, the majority including so called leaders need to accept that. It has led to predatory capitalism and all it's documented negative aspects, I can't find positive evidence for it's continuing. So why do we continue to rationalise it.
Again I return to state #sovereignty being a barrier to the real change we need. It is delusional to believe it can even be part of a global economy within this present system of adversariality and domination.

The government could redefine work, maybe not as something that contributes to the economy via tax but action, which develops community resilience and connection.
Ultimately, care in its many forms has to be a recognised part of the economy.

Can you give any examples, please, of forms where the balance between social benefit & harm is not as bad as it is in the UK's current settlement?

I may be missing your point, but I don't think so. Even partnership has been colonised to the point of extraction.
Fascism doesn’t summon hate. It grooms despair. It identifies the wound, and then it infects it. By the time the hunt begins, the scapegoat already believes he’s the shepherd. This is the point of hierarchy and why patriarchalcapitalism has been the domination system for so long.

Without a #universaleducation, we will not achieve full human capacity, including #universalequality or #universaljustice
Paulo Freire called it "bank education." The state makes a deposit and then later makes a withdrawal, i.e. tax or canon fodder. Another domination system that needs to be replaced with partnership.

Cosmolocalism is a needed brake on the chokehold of corporate oligarchs' involvement in politics.
We need a revolutionary transformation of politicoeconomics. Starting with an individual perspective opening & curiosity. Thank you for your reply and for keeping the conversation going

Like so many politicoeconomic choices today around the world in the industrialised nations is a false economic system: Keynesian militarism.
Keynes encouraged growth through social endeavour, not the military.
The argument about 'growth' is one largely ignored in mainstream economics/politics.

We can call it politics. We can call it economics, and we could call it sovereignty.
I call it #patriarchalcapitalism it's adapting it's how it has survived for so long. They are becoming like each other for a reason.
Whilst commentary is important for education & awareness raising purposes. The real questions, too many to list have to be;
how can we stop it?
What are the alternatives available now?
How can I contribute to raising awareness of them?
Can I be part of their development?
So, I believe we are creating alternative partnership frameworks.
We can, in fact, have to act locally. This has always been at the root of cultural and societal transformation and change.
The challenge for humanity, therefore, for each one of us, at this liminal point in history, is to share/think on a planetary scale.

I was not meaning to imply your intention.
I did say "our leader" as you often refer to as the political class. War seems to maintain the class system as well as controlling the majority, who would rarely if given the choice and education to make that choice, choose war.

history seems to show our so called leaders often choose war as the answer, the truth is in the short term it works. And it doesn't have to bridge the social divide, wealth or otherwise, too much. It certainly does not do it in the longer term.

The rise of authoritarianism is a natural development of neoliberalism, these two things have created the poly-crisis we are in at present. These things feel threatened by the rising awareness of #UnityInDiversity and with it a return to connection we have lost as a result of the domination culture and it's systems of #patriarchalcapitalism & #statesovereignty these two things are struggling to keep going just as we are struggling to identify alternatives. But we are developing them and the tipping point of the new planetary experiment/experience is coming closer. We are on our way home.

@npub12pw…zvxn
Regulation at this point would help, but that at some point down the road gets lost, intentionally or otherwise.
We are all complicit in system of domination. The media is just one tool in this system. We each have a choice on where we find our news. I realise that choice is limited by the system of domination (control). We know the system is corrupt and redundant for the majority. For me the only conversation is how can we build an alternative for the majority. As Bucky Fuller said -
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

here is an informative organization working to transform representative democracy. As a starting point it seems to work and naturally is open to change which Sadly the UN is not. It also has checks and balances as well addressing global governance which seems to be the brunt of this conversation.
Either way this is long term work and one of generations probably.

patriarchy & capitalism we, all of the 99% need to end #patriarchalcapitalism and the system of representative democracy that promotes it. Democracy is about people talking about change not about professional politicians & lobbyists, mostly men and corporate representatives again mostly men.

I (we?) absolutely need partnership not domination.

I may be considered a one trick pony in that I bang on about systems being the problem.
We are one race, human, on one planet. Until we accept this fact, we will continue to civilisational decline.
Uncertainty is the enemy of the majority it is used by the elite to distract & divide us & the planet. #Unity (solidarity) #Equality #Justice are our only future & have to be underpinned & guided #compassion, these things are our birthright.

All types of inequality are underpinned by a flawed (intentional at point of its creation) economy & politics, this includes the obsession/delusion around growth. That growth just moves money towards money. There are other ways of measuring wealth.
Ultimately my point is #patriarchalcapitalism has to end.
