i hear that but also as i'm finding out, having been chased out of Swissvale by John Fetterman and Warden Harper, knowing half a dozen Rust Belt landlords who all find excuses to sleep at night, i can guarantee you that everyone knew he was a piece of shit and barely tolerated him
each of these fucking guys are prime examples of barely tolerated local werewolves who'd be put down by rational communities

it's all of the people who ascend to power in the transcontinental slavery empire because that's who does that
it makes a shitload more sense when you zoom out to the "who wants to be in charge of a feudal slice of a slavery empire" level
i'm kinda surprised pedophilia is such a shared feature too but i guess i shouldn't be, because, again, who the fuck would want to run a transcontinental slavery empire?

nothing ICE or the Feds have to say has any relevance to this
they're invaders and its time to push them out of every building, institution, and hole we have any control over
ICE is a run-hide-fight encounter and we have to start treating them like the kidnappers and murderers they are.

just a reminder that what you see in your federated feeds depends on the federation of your server and your follows
if you are seeing a lot of gross or offensive or racist content, you probably have a badly moderated server (or group of servers) at the end of one of those chains
use your blocks and mutes and thank your server host if your fedi feed is clean-ish

completely cooked
#MSFT is speedrunning losing the console wars and the x86 OS monopoly because the USD economy lives in fashie fantasy logic land
anybody who cares about their personal computing for any purpose should be in full MSFT offramp mode right now

Is BurgerTime a proto-stranding type game or do we think specifically the rail-and-ladder action, traversal & maneuver oriented combat GIANT FOOD ASSEMBLY themed game is its own distinct genre
regardless of this, i have excellent news (thread)

Oh sorry friend I got too far in my own research hole:
1) The quartz/ silica sand supply claims originate from this article (https://www.npr.org/2024/09/30/nx-s1-5133462/hurricane-helene-quartz-microchips-solar-panels-spruce-pine)
2) if it was going to be a huge problem like NPR and others have contemplated, we would have seen it already I think, Trump's trade wars hit the market prices before they even went into effect, and I'm just not seeing the indicative people freaking out

2024-10-02 14:09:40 UTC

- reply

as far as I can tell the claims in this article just aren't true
quartz is incredibly common
The vast majority of industrial uses are met with synthetic crystals grown with a hydrothermal process
These 'super pure' sources only provide about 30,000 tons globally, and there are stockpiles.
Not saying these people's jobs and homes don't matter but NPR doesn't know wtf they are talking about on this subject.

While I see your summary of TGP as a good encapsulation of the middle seasons, I'm not sure that conflict is the core of that show. I see the core conflict of TGP as "there's no way out, and you're doomed, but you're allowed to spin your wheels coming to terms with that" which then results in them coming to terms with their ultimate doom after a wacky eons long adventure.
