@nprofile…t05x
The problem with the mega models is their generic approach. This has pros and cons. I am not saying they are useless, but rather too broad can also lead to bad results; such as workaround because it is the easier way/alternative, etc. some of these outcomes never happened on a more tailored model.
I hope prices will come down of the hardware, ... As this is currently unnatural, forced and overhyped almost.

2026-04-22 18:09:40 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…t05x the future is in local models. These changes happen on a whim and pose an unreliability. I do NOT choose for an increased budget/subscription because of thiss it is unclear what will happen next month or even days from now. If you depend on it, you are screwed.

In Dutch, we say "Goedkoop is duurkoop". Roughly translated this means that if you buy cheap, it will cost you in the end.
This is also know as the "Boots theory".

@nprofile…tg6x why... Do you think this comment helps?
I can run a container of Fedora without an issue. I would otherwise prefer Debian, but simply no bootc for Ubuntu. Though, I can easily run on AlmaLinux or CentOS. I'd rather report this so no else will run into this... bootc is still mostly in development.

2025-02-23 09:07:49 UTC

#Fedora #bootc image does not allow me to add the user to the group 'users'. But the group exists somehow, just not in:
```
$ cat /etc/group | grep users
```
What am I missing?
This is not an issue on the fedora container images:
```
$ cat /etc/group | grep users
users:x:100:
```

Suggest to not directly copy, but modify to your needs. As you can copy the contents of this Containerfile:

so you do not need the private-base builds.
