Only 69 years late, I was today years old when I learned of the existence of strain wave gearboxes.

My colleague Sergio and I just had a nice visit to NIC.CR, the Costa Rican ccTLD registry and the host of the Costa Rican Internet exchange. They'd been complaining about the pole in front of their office... That's fiber from sixteen (I think I remember that right?) different carriers, coming into the exchange. They're about to build out a dedicated facility for the exchange, though what they have is serving quite well.

Today's Kickstarter wackiness: how people who have domestic servants to organize their daily medicines consume their daily medicines if they want to seem SUPER MANLY AND SELF-RELIANT about it:

Disappointing. It's a little late in the arc of history to still be shipping parallel-hybrids.

The first major revision of NIST’s Secure DNS Deployment Guide in twelve years: updated DNSSEC algorithm preferences (ECDSA / Ed25519 / Ed448 over RSA), shorter RRSIG validity periods, and new operational guidance:

I was today years old when I discovered that the House of Fabergé is still laying eggs.
I was also confirmed in my assumption that people who pay too much for handbags have no more sense of the value of money than do homeless drug addicts.

Not the future I voted for: the firmware for my keyboard is 266mb.
EDIT: Sorry, that was the gzipped package. Unzipped it's 628mb.

Saw my first new R5 in the wild today, although it wasn't a civilian car... they were doing a pop-up promotion. Looks cute. Very comparable to the Ioniq 5, it seemed like. Maybe a little smaller.

I'm just now catching up on the Proterra bankruptcy. Odd that Volvo didn't just take the whole thing, given the marginal price for the bus business.
