Mandana

I wish! We're heads down setting up @nprofile…y7w5 for beta launch. No more travel until someone can actually use it. Hope to announce it all very soon. Very excited for how the Nostr community will react.
(I know we've been saying this for two years but I swear it's close 😂)
Hope you guys have the best time this year!

The good news is that now normies seem to understand the idea for @nprofile…y7w5 almost immediately when I pitch it to them, in person.
It took ✨ two years ✨ for me to figure out how to properly pitch a Nostr video app that pays people in Bitcoin to watch ads.
Right in time for beta to be *almost* ready to launch.
Good things take time.
✨stay tuned✨

I wrote a love story about two people who discover Nostr and build an app together. The app is real and coming soon. The book is published in Nostr and you can read it here for free here.

You're crushing it!! Maybe think of it like getting a little preview/taste of pregnancy/post partum. Cause those are very similar symptoms.

You gotta spend time with someone consistently and exclusively for a good six months. Meet everyone in their life. Have them meet everyone in yours. If it's all fitting and fun and still interesting, usually the brain can let the heart finally indulge and love completely. But it's still a choice after that. Every day.

2026-09-05 02:46:23 UTC

Being in love is a choice though. Letting yourself feel that way. Be vulnerable with your heart.
People fall in love at work all the time. These are basically office romances that went public. And super old people hook up at work too!

2026-08-12 19:48:28 UTC

Not skipping, just trying to figure out how we can still protect/encourage them to eventually do it. Without throwing 17 things to do before they get to use our product 😂

2026-08-12 19:46:57 UTC

- reply

That's actually reassuring. It does kinda feel like I'm finally catching everything and it's coming together.
Before Nostr I only built products in government. Onboarding was mandatory and the least of my problems. 😂

2026-08-11 20:47:04 UTC

- reply

Just now I learned safari may delete browser stored keys stored after a week of not visiting. So I need to better "encourage" install to home screen early in the onboarding process. But install is only safe when the key is portable. So back up has to happen first.
Cause this a webapp.
I've figured it out how I want to do it. But it felt unnecessarily soul crushing. Nostr plays so hard to get.

2026-08-11 20:03:35 UTC

Working on ux/ui for Nostr onboarding is ✨ physically ✨ painful.

Bitkey made us feel comfortable enough to onboard people we knew were never going to research Bitcoin beyond what they learned from us.
Before it existed, people would ask us to help set them up and we'd refuse. We'd say to stick with Strike until they would do the research themselves to hold it themselves.

We created a new protocol, the Ketab protocol, and then our own ereader to display it.
It's allows each chapter, and sections of a chapter, to be their own short form post on Nostr and people can engage and zap it.
My book is the first we're testing inside the NextBlock app.
In the future, others will be able to publish their works. And use NextBlock of course to promote it.
I'm sorry to say it's not ready for your manuscript but please follow along with us. We're working towards this capability.

User base is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. If we have enough people building and using the clients we have to communicate as we build, that's enough for now! We gotta make sure this shit works first.

How can Nostr be dead if someone wrote a fictional love story about two people building an app together that uses the protocol?
And then published it to read for free on Nostr.
In the very app the characters build.

But Bitcoin and Nostr adoption is the goal. For the masses.
I also wrote a fictional love story about the all this tech. It tricks normies into learning about the general concept of permissionless and freedom technology. And how NextBlock works.

The beauty of it is that we made the attention marketplace they we'll operate open source. So anyone can do this too. We're doing the first implementation to test and socialize it. But the ATTN PROTOCOL is intended to fund all of what we build on Nostr. For anyone who wants to use it.

I would love to push back on this narrative that nostriches hate ads.
I've been working on NextBlock for almost two years. Speaking at conferences, talks, meet ups. So many people I've met are trying to get their ideas out there. They want to promote themselves without feeding big tech. They are excited for us to launch because it would be an ethical way to promote yourself on the Internet. The act of using it will be a signal itself.

I agree so much with all of you.
We're about to launch @nprofile…y7w5 with a business model we've been very loud about.
It uses Nostr. A vertical video app. We reimagine social media as a city where everyone gets their own block.
And you can buy a billboard for your block if you want to promote yourself. Citizens of the city can opt in to be paid directly to watch your billboard. All in Bitcoin!

We're building something really exciting at @nextblock using Nostr. I believe it'll bring the mainstream to Nostr and Bitcoin. Building new things takes time but I think lots of cool ideas will take off soon. We're still so early.
Understanding what Nostr actually is can help build that long term conviction to keep paying attention to it.
But as the main place to get your social media fix, no I don't think Nostr is there yet. And that's ok.
But it's coming 🙌🏽
