thank you so much
for all your suggestions! I think the tofu idea sounds great, I have cooked it like that before for the texture. The recipe captured my interest because of the butter and pine nut topping but yes they are expensive. My family has Doukhobour Russian heritage so the combination of yoghurt and butter alway draws me haha but this dish has interesting new textures and spices. I will look at the link you offered too. My sister and nephew are vegetarian as well and I think would enjoy this when we next get together. Thanks again, Happy New Year:)

where did you hear about that?

2025-08-20 14:14:34 UTC

I'm glad CUPE and the flight attendants seem to have a workable contract pending.
I'm worried though, because through this whole strike, a very significant moment in the Canadian labour movement, I did not read about one politician standing up for workers. Jagmeet and Charlie Angus have left a huge hole. We need proworker representation in government, ideally as the official opposition and someday leading government. We need to organize!
Can the #NDP renew themselves or do we need a new party for workers? What do we do next progressive #Canada?

2025-08-19 00:13:17 UTC

When you step back and get perspective on where we are, #Canada, a large corporation with a CEO who makes $12 million dollars a year and shares billions of profits to shareholders annually is colluding with our own "democratically elected" government to threaten striking workers with jail time and fines unless they return to work and accept the unwelcome conditions the corporation & government is forcing on them.
Read that again.
Do we all just exist to make money for corporations? Does government, like the RCMP, exist only to protect corporate interests and the uninterrupted functioning of capitalism?
When capitalists tried to use the law in the late 1800s to stop the influence of unions, Labor parties formed in New Zealand, the UK and Australia and filled seats in government.
Just sayin.

Will any of the other apps you mentioned allow me to upload my book in full? Its 57,000 words. Thanks for your help in advance! Theresa:)

So #writing #bookstodon and other fedi folk & friends...
A few years back when we were all staying much closer to home than we do now, I decided to tackle that bucket list book I knew I had in me. I wrote a YA SciFi. It's been sitting dormant for a couple years and could probably use a few more workings over but I would like share it with universe now, just for fun.
What would be the best way to do that? I have it in my google drive as a pdf but wasn't sure if that was the best / most anonymous route. Feedback welcome!

Do you wash your fruit before you eat it?

2025-06-27 02:07:22 UTC

So I had something interesting happen today.
I had a call from the RCMP about an event that happened 4-5 years ago. Damage was done to an enterprise that I at one time quite publically protested against.
I have been asked to come in for an interview at a local RCMP station where I live, 700 km away from the event site.
Anyone have something similar occur and have any insight on what I might expect next?

I don't understand what they mean when the say "above average" or "higher than normal". The past 5 summers we get weeks of 35-40 C temperatures (often filled with wildfire smoke) that make outdoor activities challenging. When does a repeated pattern become the new "normal"?

Guys I did the absolute dumbest thing.
I am getting the crowns on my front teeth replaced and while waiting for the new ones to be made, I have temporary veneers in place. I believe they are a hard plastic.

I tried brushing, baking soda, it's not coming off. Damn🤣

my Jack was the most chill dog, liked all people & other puppers. His favourite thing was sticks & on every walk, he'd find the biggest one and march proudly with it
In Jack's later years, I had a partner, who adopted a puppy. Jack spent a lot of time teaching Molly to be a dog, how to pee, sniff and find and carry the best sticks.
Jacked passed away in March and now when Molly comes to visit & we walk she hunts & carries the biggest sticks like Jack taught her. It makes me happy.

yes, we all do this all the time, to protect our comfort. Looking the other way with Trump is only one example - others might include:
Factory farms where animals are tortured every day
Slave/child labour that produces cheap goods so we can have stuff we otherwise could not afford
The number of women killed by domestic partners
The impoverishment of workers while corporations record billions in profits
This is who we are. I can do this all day.
